MONSTER (HBO, New!) - Naoki Urasawa's manga-turned-anime series - about a young doctor who saves the life of a 12-year-old boy only to learn years later he's become an evil sociopath - is being developed as a drama at the pay channel. Guillermo del Toro and Steven Thompson are penning the adaptation with del Toro potentially directing. Angry Films' partners Don Murphy and Susan Montford are executive producing alongside del Toro and Exile Entertainment's Gary Ungar with Thompson serving as a co-executive producer. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED ANDREW GURLAND PROJECT (FX/FX Productions; W/D: Andrew Gurland) - Nat Faxon ("Ben & Kate") has booked the lead role on the comedy pilot, about "a married man (Faxon) and his wife, who are best friends and determined to shake things up in order to save their marriage." Paul Young and Peter Principato also serve as executive producers on the single-camera project with Salamo Levin producing. (Deadline.com)
AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Grant Show will guest on TV Land's "The Exes" as a perfect guy whom Phil, Haskell and Stuart meet on an Internet dating site when they pose as Kristen Johnston's Holly (THR.com); and former FX executive Danielle Woodrow has been tapped to run the television division of Justin Lin and Bruno Wu's Perfect Storm Entertainment (Deadline.com).
