DOWN DOG (Amazon; W: Robin Schiff; D: Brad Silberling) - Lyndsy Fonseca ("Nikita") has been cast in the comedy pilot, about Logan (Josh Casaubon), a laid-back, charming surfer who is left in charge of his ex-girlfriend's (Paget Brewster) yoga studio. She'll play Winter, "one of the yoga teachers at the studio who is described as "a stunning if bedraggled waif who is unreliable and always late - and a love interest for Logan." Brad Silberling is also on board to direct. (THR.com)


LAST KINGDOM, THE (BBC America; W: Stephen Butchard; D: TBA) - Alexander Dreymon ("American Horror Story: Coven") have been tapped for the lead role on the historical drama series, a show full of heroic deeds and epic battles but with a thematic depth that embraces politics, religion, warfare, courage, love, loyalty and our universal search for identity. He'll play Uhtred, who "when his noble Saxon parents are killed by the Vikings, the marauders kidnap him and raise him as one of their own. Forced to choose between the country of his birth and the people of his upbringing, his loyalties are continually tested." (Deadline.com)


POOR HOUSE (NBC, New!) - Julian McCullough has sold a semi-autobiographical comedy to the Peacock about "a free-spirited, anti-establishment, non-conformist dad who drifts across America and through life until he decides to let his teenaged son have a normal high school experience, settling in a wealthy, Norman Rockwell-esque utopia where they share the only rundown house in town with two other working class misfits." The multi-camera project, which would star McCullough, is set up at Universal Television with Michael Pennie also executive producing alongside Pacific Electric Company's Ed Helms and Mike Falbo. UNTITLED MARY KARR PROJECT (Showtime, New!) - Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly ("Masters of Sex") are developing a new period drama at the pay channel based on the memoirs of poet/essayist Mary Karr who "chronicled, with some humor, her challenging childhood in East Texas in the 1960s" in 1995's "Liars' Club." Mary-Louise Parker is reportedly being eyed for said role in the project, which comes from CBS Television Studios and will be executive produced by Parker, Timberman and Beverly. (Deadline.com)

Ben Hollingsworth has likewise scored an arc on FOX's "Backstrom" as DA Steven Kines, "who meets with Backstrom regarding a material witness who's gone missing" (Deadline.com); Rebecca Mader will guest on "Blue Bloods" as "a sexy and brilliant attorney who is Erin's old law school classmate - and her most bitter rival" (EW.com); Emmett Scanlan has been cast as Jim Corrigan, better known as the host of The Spectre, on NBC's "Constantine" (EW.com); Mary Mouser has been play Karen Grant, succeeding Madeline Carroll, on "Scandal" (EW.com); and Peter Gallagher will be recurring on "Law & Order: SVU" as "a tough-as-nails boss who oversees all of the special victim units in New York City" (EW.com).
