BOYS, THE (Amazon) - Tomer Capon has scored a series regular role on the upcoming drama as Frenchie, "the unpredictable wild card of the Boys. A brutal warrior when the situation calls for it, he's living a life of no attachments or responsibilities." (Deadline.com)
CATFISH: THE TV SHOW (MTV) - Production on the series will resume following an investigation into an accusation of sexual misconduct against host and executive producer Nev Schulman. "Although we never received a formal complaint, MTV and Critical Content immediately engaged an independent third party investigator," MTV said in a statement. "The independent investigator found the allegations made in the YouTube videos to be not credible and without merit. Given the results of the investigation, 'Catfish' will resume filming. We take these matters very seriously and are committed to providing a safe working environment." (Deadline.com, 6/23)
COMIC BOOK MEN (AMC) - Kevin Smith revealed via his podcast the series has been canceled after seven seasons. (@smodcastnetwork, 6/24)
EMPIRE (FOX) - Nicole Ari Parker's Giselle Barker, "Eddie Barker's (Forest Whitaker) beautiful trophy ex-wife," has been promoted to regular for season five. (Deadline.com)
HOW HIGH 2 (MTV, New!) - Universal 1440 Entertainment is spearheading a non-theatrical movie follow-up to the Method Man/Redman-led 2001 feature, in which "two young but business-savvy stoners embark on a pot-filled odyssey through Atlanta to find their missing weed, only to uncover a vast government conspiracy." Artie Johann and Shawn Ries penned the script to the project with Shauna Garr executive producing. Filming is slated to begin in Atlanta later this summer. (Deadline.com)
NOBODIES (TV Land) - The cable channel has passed on ordering a third season for its Melissa McCarthy-produced comedy series. (Deadline.com, 6/23)
ON BECOMING A GOD IN CENTRAL FLORIDA (AMC) - YouTube Premium has ordered 10 episodes of the Kirsten Dunst-led project, which was originally set up at AMC in January 2017. Writers Robert Funke and Matt Lutsky are behind the TriStar Television-based drama, about minimum-wage Orlando water park employee Krystal Gill - recently widowed and left with nothing - who lies, schemes and cons her way up the ranks of Founders American Merchandise - the cultish, flag-waving, multibillion-dollar pyramid scheme that drove her to ruin in the first place. Yorgos Lanthimos, Esta Spalding and Charlie McDowell (who will now direct) as well as Smokehouse Pictures' George Clooney and Grant Heslov also serve as executive producers. (Deadline.com)
TELL ME A STORY (CBSAA) - Sam Jaeger is the latest to be cast in the upcoming drama as Tim, "a recently widowed single father who's still reeling from the death of his wife. Hoping for a change of pace and a new start, Tim just moved to New York with his troubled daughter Kayla (Danielle Campbell) to live with his mother, Colleen (Kim Cattrall). Desperate to cope with the grief, Tim throws himself into work while grappling with a broken-hearted daughter who seems to grow further and further away from him each day." Said pact is a one-year deal. (Deadline.com)
