BLACK-ISH (ABC) - The Alphabet has commissioned six additional episodes for the series, bringing its season seven total to 21 installments. (Deadline.com)
NEW YORK UNDERCOVER (Peacock, New!) - The streaming service is in negotiations for a new incarnation of the 1990s cop drama "described as re-examination of the original, reflecting the current times." The project, which is being eyed for a series commitment, comes from writer Ayanna Floyd Davis and fellow executive producers Dick Wolf, Peter Jankowski and Arthur Forney of Wolf Entertainment. Universal Television is producing. Last year, ABC commissioned a pilot for a potential sequel series featuring original cast members Malik Yoba and Lauren VĂ©lez that did not move forward. (Deadline.com)
OUTER RANGE (Amazon) - Lili Taylor, Tamara Podemski and Tom Pelphrey have all been cast in the Josh Brolin-led drama, which centers on Royal Abbott, a rancher fighting for his land and family, who discovers an unfathomable mystery at the edge of Wyoming's wilderness. Taylor will portray Cecilia Abbott, "the matriarch of the Abbott family"; with Podemski as Deputy Sheriff Joy, "a life-long cop running for county sheriff, and is the first gay Native American to ever do so in Wyoming"; and Pelphrey as Perry Abbott, "the dutiful, eldest Abbott son, who is torn up inside by the lingering mystery of his missing wife." (Deadline.com)
RUDY (Quibi) - Mike Catherwood's animated project had found a new home at the soon-to-be-defunct streaming service. Originally set up at Comedy Central in 2016 with a pilot presentation, said entry followed childish "cholo" Rudy Cisneros who, after serving a 15-year prison sentence, wants to dissociate from gang life and start being there for his wife, kids and abuelita. The new retooled incarnation hailed from animation studio Six Point Harness and Ed Helms and Mike Falbo's Pacific Electric Picture Company. Catherwood hopes to set up the project elsewhere. (Variety.com)
SCENES FROM A MARRIAGE (HBO) - Jessica Chastain has reportedly signed onto the limited series following the exit of Michelle Williams as the female lead. Oscar Isaac also stars in the project, a remake of the 1973 Swedish mini-series, billed as "a series adaptation that re-examines the show's iconic depiction of love, hatred, desire, monogamy, marriage and divorce through the lens of a contemporary American couple." (Deadline.com)
SOVEREIGN (NBC, New!) - Ava DuVernay has scored a put pilot commitment from the network for a new drama from Warner Bros. Television which "chronicles the lives, loves and loyalties of a sprawling Indigenous family struggling to control the future of their tribe against outside forces and themselves." Sydney Freeland and Shaz Bennett are penning the project from a story by DuVernay with ARRAY Filmworks' Sarah Bremner and Paul Garnes co-executive producing alongside Bird Runningwater. (Deadline.com)
WARPED! (Nickelodeon, New!) - Kevin Kopelow and Heath Seifert have received a pilot order from the cable channel for a new comedy which follows Milo, "the beloved head geek and manager at a popular comic book store whose microcosm is disrupted when his boss hires the loud and excitable, Ruby. Despite their differences, the two form an unlikely alliance when they team up to create the next great superhero franchise." Kevin Kay will also serve as an executive producer. (Deadline.com)
