Monday Night Football: ESPN Wins the Night as the Most-Watched Network

ESPN.com NFL Content: 41 Million Page Views, Up 54% from 2006

Last night's Chicago Bears � Minnesota Vikings on ESPN's Monday Night Football made ESPN the most-watched network in all of television in primetime (8 � 11 p.m. ET). The 8:30 p.m. telecast earned a 9.5 rating, boosting ESPN's audience in the time period to an average of 8,118,000 homes and 11,293,000 viewers (P2+). This is the fourth time this season ESPN has been the most-watched network on Monday night (also September 10 and 17 and December 3).

Minnesota's 20-13 win also helped ESPN lead all television networks, broadcast or cable, in prime-time delivery of the key male demos (M18-34, M18-49, M25-54), as ESPN has each Monday this season. It also led among the key adult demo groups � P18-34, P18-49 and P25-54.

In Chicago, the game delivered a 10.2 rating on ESPN and an 18.5 rating on WLS-ABC, for a combined 28.7 rating. In Minneapolis, the game delivered a 14.2 rating on ESPN and a 25.1 rating on KSTP-ABC, for a combined 39.3 rating.

ESPN's NFL programming from 4 p.m. through the conclusion of post-game coverage delivered 20.7 gross ratings points.

ESPN's 16 NFL games account for eight of the 10 biggest household audiences for any basic cable television program in 2007. They rank first, second, third, fourth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th. The list is topped by the December 3 New England � Baltimore Ravens game, which attracted the largest audience in cable television history � an average of 12,529,000 homes and 17,529,000 viewers (P2+), based on a 13.0 rating.

Also, NFL content on ESPN.com, including "Monday Night Surround," accessed via computers and mobile devices generated more than 41 million page views from Monday through Tuesday at noon, a 54% increase over the same period last year, according to Web measurement tool HitBox. For the season, ESPN.com is averaging 47 million page views for the time period, up 36% over 2006.
