BURBANK, Calif. � November 11, 2008 � With the week bookended by convincing primetime wins on Monday with the "SNL Presidential Election Bash" and on Sunday with "NBC Sunday Night Football," NBC tied for #1 for the week of November 3-9 in adults 18-49, averaging a 3.2 rating, 8 share in adults 18-49 and 8.9 million viewers overall, according to in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research. NBC won the week outright in adults 18-34 and in all key adult-male demographics � men 18-34, men 18-49 and men 25-54.

The "NBC Sunday Night Football" telecast of the New York Giants at the Philadelphia Eagles was the #1 program of the week in adults 18-49, adults 18-34 (tie), adults 25-54 and all key adult-male demos. Overall, NBC programmed four of the top 10 and five of the top 15 shows of the week in primetime's key demographic of adults 18-49. In addition to the #1-ranked "Sunday Night Football," Monday's "Saturday Night Live Presidential Bash 2008" ranked #4, NBC News' "Decision '08" election coverage ranked #8, "The Office" ranked #9 and "30 Rock" ranked #14 (tied with ABC's "Dancing With the Stars").

In adults 18-34, NBC dominated the top tier of the weekly rankings, programming three of the top five and five of the top 10 telecasts of the week � "NBC Sunday Night Football" (#1, tied with "Grey's Anatomy"), "The Office (#3), "Saturday Night Live Presidential Bash 2008" (#5), "30 Rock" (#7) and NBC News' "Decision '08" election coverage (#9, tied).

Through the first seven weeks of the 2008-09 season, NBC is now the "second youngest" of the major broadcast networks, with a median age of 45.8 years, only 0.3 years "older" than Fox (45.5 years). By comparison, ABC's median age is 50.5 and CBS's median age is 53.3.

Season to date, NBC is running within 0.3 of a rating point of first place in adults 18-49, up from a deficit of 0.5 of a point at this time last season.

Primetime averages for the week of November 3-9 in adults 18-49 were NBC and ABC (3.2/8), CBS (3.0/8), Fox (2.3/6), Univision (1.6/4), CW (1.1/3) and Telemundo (0.4/1). In overall total viewers the weekly averages were CBS (11.0 million), ABC (10.4 million), NBC (8.9 million), Fox (5.9 million), Univision (3.9 million), CW (2.3 million) and Telemundo (1.1 million).

NBC highlights for the week of November 3-9:

* On Monday, the "Saturday Night Live Presidential Bash 2008" was NBC's highest-rated entertainment special in both adults 18-49 and total viewers since the Golden Globes telecast on January 15, 2007. It also scored NBC's highest 18-49 and total-viewer results in the Monday 9-11 p.m. time period, excluding Olympics, since that same date.

* Monday's "SNL Presidential Bash" special was the #1 show of the night on the broadcast networks in primetime's key demographic of adults 18-49, propelling NBC to a convincing Monday win in adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54 and virtually all key demographics. Excluding Olympics, it was NBC's best Monday in adults 18-49 since September 2007 and top Monday in total viewers since March 2007.

* In its Wednesday debut, "Life" jumped 33 percent in 18-49 rating versus its season average as a Friday regular. "Life" posted strong gains versus its lead-in and also increased half-hour to half-hour in virtually all key measures, including adults 18-49 and total viewers.

* Also on Wednesday, the 19th season debut of "Law & Order" delivered NBC's biggest total viewership of the season in its hour, surging 55 percent in total viewers versus NBC's season-to-date average for the slot (excluding News debate coverage).

* On Thursday, "30 Rock" scored its second-highest 18-49 rating ever � second only to last week's third season premiere � and its best-ever retention of its "Office" lead-in in its Thursday time period. In its second telecast this season, "30 Rock" was up 30 percent in 18-49 rating and 22 percent in total viewers versus last season's second episode, and up 44 percent in 18-49 and 50 percent in total viewers versus its three-week run last spring in the post-"Office" Thursday time period.

* Also on Thursday, "Kath & Kim" matched its 18-49 rating of a week earlier, while attracting its highest total viewership in three weeks.

* "ER" again won its Thursday hour in adults 18-49 and other key demos, topping freshmen dramas "Eleventh Hour" on CBS and "Life on Mars" on ABC. "ER" has now finished #1 in this time period in adults 18-49, excluding sports, for five weeks in a row.

* On Friday, "Deal or No Deal," "Crusoe" and "Lipstick Jungle" all posted week-to-week growth of 20-25 percent in 18-49 rating versus the prior Friday.

* On Saturday, an encore telecast of Monday's "SNL Presidential Bash 2008" polled NBC's highest 18-49 rating in the time period, excluding sports, in nearly a year.

* This week's "NBC Sunday Night Football" telecast of the New York Giants at the Philadelphia Eagles propelled NBC to a Sunday night win in adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54 total viewers and other key measures.

* The Giants-Eagles match-up was the top-scoring "SNF" in adults 18-49 since September 29 and in total viewers since September 21.

Ratings reflect "live plus same day" data unless otherwise noted. Season-to-date figures are averages of "live plus seven day" data except for the two most recent weeks, which are "live plus same day."

On Monday, Nov. 3 from 8-9 p.m. ET, "Deal or No Deal" (2.0 rating, 5 share in 18-49, 7.2 million viewers overall) increased from its first half-hour to its second by 22 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 2.2/5 from a 1.8/5) and by 19 percent or more than 1.2 million persons in total viewers (to 7.8 million from 6.5 million).

Monday from 9-11 p.m. ET., "Saturday Night Live Presidential Bash 2008" (5.6/13 in adults 18-49, 14.4 million viewers overall) was NBC's highest-rated entertainment special in both adults 18-49 and total viewers since the Golden Globes telecast on January 15, 2007 (excludes Olympic Opening and Closing Ceremonies). It also scored NBC's highest 18-49 and total-viewer results in the Monday 9-11 p.m. time period, excluding Olympics, since that same date

The "Saturday Night Live Presidential Bash 2008" was the #1 program of the night on the broadcast networks in primetime's key demographic of adults 18-49. In head-to-head competition from 9-11 p.m., the "SNL" special won the time period in every key ratings category, generating margins of victory of 56 percent in adults 18-49 (5.6 vs. a 3.6 for CBS in second place), 24 percent in total viewers (14.4 million vs. 11.6 million for CBS) and 127 percent in adults 18-34 (5.0 vs. 2.2 for CBS).

NBC won Monday night in adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54 and virtually all key demos. NBC's 4.4 Monday night rating in adults 18-49 was the network's best Monday night average, excluding Olympics, since September 24, 2007 and with an average 12.0 million total viewers, its was NBC's best Monday total-viewer average, excluding Olympics, since March 12, 2007.

On Tuesday, Nov. 4, NBC News' "Decision '08" primetime coverage of the 2008 election averaged a 4.5/10 in adults 18-49, a 4.9/10 in adults 25-54 and 12.5 million viewers overall in primetime.

On Wednesday, Nov. 5 from 8-9 p.m. ET, "Knight Rider" (1.6/4 in 18-49, 5.1 million viewers overall) ranked #2 in the time period in men 18-34 and men 18-49 (tied).

At 9 p.m. ET, "Life" (2.0/5 in 18-49, 5.9 million viewers overall) made its Wednesday debut, jumping 33 percent in 18-49 rating versus its season average as a Friday regular (2.0 vs. 1.5). "Life" also exhibited growth from its first half-hour to its second in numerous key demographics, including adults 18-49, which increased 11 percent (to a 2.1 from a 1.9) and men 18-49, which grew 10 percent (to a 2.2 from a 2.0). Half-hour to half-hour gains were also logged in adults and women 18-34, women 18-49, adults, men and women 25-54 and total viewers. "Life" built on its lead-in from the previous hour by 25 percent in 18-49 rating.

Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET, the 19th season debut of "Law & Order' (2.2/6 in 18-49, 7.9 million viewers overall) scored NBC's highest 18-49 rating in this time period since September 24 and biggest overall viewership in the slot this season, excluding Presidential debate analysis. In total viewers, "Law & Order" improved on NBC's season average in this time period, excluding news coverage, by 55 percent (7.9 million vs. 5.1 million).

From its first half-hour to its second, "Law & Order" increased by 15 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 2.3 from a 2.0) and by 10 percent in total viewers (to 8.3 million from 7.6 million), while competing dramas on ABC and CBS were flat or declined in both key measures. "Law & Order" ranked #2 in the hour in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, total viewers and other key measures.

On Thursday, Nov. 6 at 8 p.m. ET, "My Name is Earl" (2.6/7, 6.7 million viewers overall) delivered its top results in three weeks, up 8 percent in 18-49 rating (2.6 vs. 2.4) and 7 percent in total viewers (6.7 million vs. 6.3 million) versus the prior week. "Earl" ranked #1 in adults 18-34, topping CBS's "Survivor," "ABC's "Ugly Betty," Fox's "Kitchen Nightmares" and CW's "Smallville" in that demo. "Earl" ranked #2 in adults 18-49 and other key demos.

Thursday at 8:30 p.m. ET, "Kath & Kim" (2.4/6 in 18-49, 5.6 million viewers overall) matched its 18-49 rating of a week earlier and delivered its largest total viewership in three weeks (since October 16). "Kath & Kim" retained 92 percent of its "Earl" lead-in among adults 18-49 and 100 percent of its lead-in among adults 18-34.

Thursday from 9-9:31 p.m. ET, "The Office" (4.3/10 in 18-49, 8.5 million viewers overall) ranked #1 among the broadcast networks in its highly competitive time period in men 18-49 and men 18-34, topping CBS's "CSI," ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" and Fox's "Kitchen nightmares" in those demos. "The Office" ranked #2 in its time period in women 18-34 and men 25-54.

Thursday from 9:31-10:01 p.m. ET, "30 Rock" (3.9/9 in 18-49, 8.1 million viewers overall) scored its second-highest 18-49 rating ever � second only to the prior week's season premiere � and a best-ever 93 percent retention of the time period's "Office" lead-in in adult 18-49 rating. In its three telecasts in this time slot last season, "30 Rock" retained an average 69 percent of its 18-49 lead-in from "The Office."

In its second telecast this season, "30 Rock" was up 30 percent in 18-49 rating and 22 percent in total viewers versus last season's second episode (a 3.0/8 in 18-49 and 6.6 million viewers on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007 at 8:30 p.m.). Versus its three-week run last spring in this post-"Office" time period, "30 Rock" gained 44 percent in 18-49 rating (3.9 vs. 2.7) and 50 percent in total viewers (8.1 million vs. 5.4 million). "30 Rock" ranked #1 in its highly competitive time period in men 18-34, topping CBS's "CSI," ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" and Fox's "Kitchen Nightmares" in those demos.

Thursday from 10:01-11 p.m. ET, "ER" (3.2/9 in 18-49, 8.6 million viewers overall) won its time period in adults 18-49, adults 18-34 and other key demographics over the freshmen dramas "Eleventh Hour" on CBS and "Life on Mars" on ABC. "ER" has now finished #1 in this time period in adults 18-49, excluding sports, for five weeks in a row.

NBC finished within 0.7 of a rating point of the nightlong win in adults 18-49 and was #1 among the broadcast networks Thursday night in men 18-34.

On Friday, Nov. 7 from 8-9 p.m. ET, "Deal or No Deal" (1.1/4 in 18-49, 5.5 million viewers overall) increased week-to-week by 22 percent in 18-49 rating (1.1 vs. 0.9) and 13 percent in total viewers (5.5 million vs. 4.9 million). At 9 p.m., "Crusoe" (1.0/3, 4.2 million viewers overall) was up week-to-week by 25 percent in 18-49 (1.0 vs. 0.8). And at 10 p.m., "Lipstick Jungle" (1.2/4 in 18-49, 3.3 million viewers overall) improved versus its results for the prior Friday by 20 percent in 18-49 rating (1.2 vs. 1.0).

On Saturday, Nov. 8 from 8-8:59 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Knight Rider" averaged a 0.7/2 in 18-49 and 2.7 million viewers overall.

Saturday from 8:59-11 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Saturday Night Live Presidential Bash 2008" scored NBC's highest 18-49 rating in this time period, excluding sports, in nearly a year (since November 24, 2007). "Saturday Night Live Presidential Bash 2008" (1.9/6 in 18-49, 5.1 million viewers overall) increased from its first half-hour to its last by 47 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 2.2/7 from a 1.5/4) and by 41 percent or more than 1.7 million persons in total viewers (to 5.8 million from 4.1 million).

On Sunday, Nov. 9, the "NBC Sunday Night Football" telecast of the New York Giants at the Philadelphia Eagles averaged a 6.7/16 in adults 18-49, 17.6 million viewers overall and an 11.0/18 household rating/share for its full duration from 8:23-11:45 p.m. ET.

This was the top-scoring "NBC Sunday Night Football" in adults 18-49 since September 28 (Philadelphia Eagles-Chicago Bears) and in total viewers since September 21 (Dallas Cowboys-Green Bay Packers)

"NBC Sunday Night Football" was the #1 telecast on Sunday night in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key measures, propelling NBC to a Sunday primetime win in adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54, total viewers and all key adult-male demographics. For the night (from 7:30-11 p.m. ET), NBC averaged a 5.8/14 in 18-49 and 15.2 million viewers overall.

Also on Sunday, "Football Night in America 2" from 7:30-7:58 p.m. ET averaged a 2.4/7 in 18-49, 6.1 million viewers overall and a 3.8/6 household rating/share. "Football Night in America 3" from 7:58-8:15 p.m. delivered a 3.3/9 in 18-49, 8.5 million viewers overall and a 5.3/8 in households. From 8:15-8:23 p.m., "NBC Sunday Night Football Pre Kickoff" averaged a 4.3/11 in 18-49, 11.4 million viewers overall and a 7.0/11 in households.
