"48 HOURS: LAST CHANCE" IS #1 BROADCAST AT 10:00 PM WITH ADULTS 25-54 - THE DEMOGRAPHIC THAT MATTERS MOST TO THOSE WHO ADVERTISE IN NEWS - VIEWERS AND ADULTS 18-49

Saturday's 48 HOURS: "Last Chance" was the #1 broadcast at 10:00 PM with adults 25-54 - the demographic that matters most to those who advertise in news - as well as viewers and adults 18-49, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for March 29.

48 HOURS: "Last Chance" delivered 4.05m viewers, a 1.1/03 in adults 25-54 and a 0.8/03 in adults 18-49.

Saturday's broadcast featured Erin Moriarty and 48 HOURS' investigation into the 1996 murder of Crystal Champagne, 14, and the conviction of Damon Thibodeaux, which was based on his own confession. Thibodeaux said he confessed under duress, believing the truth would clear him. Thibodeaux went on trial in 1997. There were 84 pieces of evidence presented, and none of it tied Thibodeaux to Champagne. But the confession would prove too difficult to overcome. He was convicted and sentenced to death by lethal injection. He was sent to Louisiana's notorious Angola prison.

However, with help from attorney Denny LeBoeuf, Minneapolis attorney Steve Kaplan, and Barry Scheck from the Innocence Project, they put together a risky plan to share information with Jefferson Parish District Attorney Paul Connick - the head of the office that put him in jail. The unusual move paid off, and in 2012, with Connick's help, Thibodeaux was released from prison and the case remains unsolved.

48 HOURS: "Last Chance" (10:00 PM) is produced by Gail Zimmerman. Anthony Venditti is the field producer. Richard Barber is the editor. Peter Schweitzer is the senior producer. Susan Zirinsky is the senior executive producer.
