"48 HOURS: PARADISE LOST" IS SATURDAY'S #1 BROADCAST AT 10:00 PM WITH ADULTS 25-54 AND VIEWERS AND POSTS YEAR-TO-YEAR GAINS IN BOTH CATEGORIES

48 HOURS: "Paradise Lost" was Saturday's #1 broadcast at 10:00 PM with the key adult news demographic and viewers, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for July 25. 48 HOURS was also the #1 program for the night in viewers.

48 HOURS (R) (10:00-11:00 PM) delivered 4.16 million viewers and a 1.0/04 with adults 25-54, the demographic that matters most to those who advertise in news. Compared to the same night last year, 48 HOURS was up +25% in adults 25-54 and up +22% in viewers.

Saturday's broadcast featured Susan Spencer and 48 HOURS' investigation into the death of a Wall Street genius, John Bender, who was found dead in the bedroom of his Costa Rican paradise with his wife Ann next to him. They had moved to Central America to live a dream, and spent part of his $100 million fortune creating a nature sanctuary there, including a 50,000-square-foot home without walls.

The dream turned into a nightmare on Jan. 8, 2010, when Bender died from a bullet wound to the back of his head. Ann Bender said her husband was trying to kill himself, while prosecutors in Costa Rica maintained it was murder. Ann Bender went on trial for murder, but was acquitted. But unlike the system in the United States, the judicial system in Costa Rica allows people to be tried more than once for the same crime, leading prosecutors to charge Bender again with murder. In May 2014, she was convicted. Bender won an appeal in that case, and will be tried for a third time in August.

48 HOURS: "Paradise Lost" is produced by Josh Yager, Doug Longhini, Ana Real, Shoshanah Wolfson and Tamara Weitzman. Richard Barber, Gary Winter and Marcus Balsam are the editors. Suzanne Allen is the senior coordinating producer. Linda Martin is the update producer. Peter Schweitzer is the senior producer. Susan Zirinsky is the senior executive producer.
