By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

GRACEPOINT (FOX; W: Chris Chibnall; D: James Strong) - Oscar-nominee Nick Nolte (Warrior) is the latest to be cast in the event series, a gripping crime drama which follows the tragic and mysterious death of a young boy found dead on an idyllic beach surrounded by rocks and a jutting cliff-face, from where he may have fallen. He's on board as Jack Reinhold, "the stubborn, willful owner of the kayak rental on the beach as well as the local wildlife observation program, where the murdered boy was one of his volunteers." Also starring in the project are Anna Gunn, David Tennant, Jacki Weaver, Josh Hamilton, Kevin Rankin, Kevin Zegers, Michael Peña and Virginia Kull. (Deadline.com, 12/23/13)

UNTITLED MATT HUBBARD PROJECT (FOX/Universal; W: Matt Hubbard; D: Pamela Fryman) - Matt Hubbard's multi-camera comedy - about "a women's college that, for the first time in its history, begins accepting men" - has received a formal pilot order from the network. Pamela Fryman ("How I Met Your Mother") has signed on to direct and executive produce the half-hour, with David Miner, Robert Carlock and Tina Fey likewise executive producing alongside Hubbard. Fryman is also directing and executive producing "Mother's" proposed spin-off "How I Met Your Dad." (Deadline.com, 12/23/13)

THE WILD BLUE (FOX/Sony; W: Taylor Elmore; D: Michael Dinner) - FOX has opted not to make to the drama pilot, about the lives of the men and women on board the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Lexington and her Strike Group of destroyers, cruisers and various tender ships. The network originally commissioned the pilot back in January before pushing production to off-cycle two months later due to casting issues. Alano Miller, Gina Rodriguez, Josh Salatin, Mykelti Williamson and Will Rothhaar were among those cast with Tim McGraw in talks at one point for the lead role. (Deadline.com, 12/24/13)

AND IN OTHER NEWS... - A+E Networks has announced it will resume filming on "Duck Dynasty" in the spring with the entire Robertson family, including patriarch Phil Robertson, who was placed on "indefinite hiatus" last week over controversial comments he made in an interview to GQ (Deadline.com, 12/27/13).
