DIG (USA/UCP; W: Gideon Raff & Tim Kring; D: S.J. Clarkson) - Richard E. Grant is the latest addition to the event series, about an FBI agent stationed in Jerusalem (Jason Isaacs) who, while investigating a murder of a young female archeologist, uncovers a conspiracy 2000 years in the making. He'll play Ian Margrove, "the Cambridge archaeologist heading up the dig Emma (Alison Sudol) is working on in Jerusalem." Anne Heche, David Costabile, Omar Metwally, Regina Taylor and Lauren Ambrose also star. (THR.com)

GALYNTINE (AMC; W: Jason Cahill; D: Greg Nicotero) - Peter Fonda has joined the cast of the drama pilot, which takes place at a time after a cataclysmic technology-induced disaster has resulted in a new society that has eschewed any form of technology. He'll play Crawford, "a handyman's shop owner who is described as a grizzled, ultratraditionalist hard-ass with a sadistic streak and a simmering resentment about no longer being a leader among his band of survivors." In addition, David Mackenzie has bowed out as director with executive producer Greg Nicotero now set to fill in. Catherine Dent also stars. (Deadline.com, THR.com)

RETURNED, THE (A&E; W: Carlton Cuse & Raelle Tucker; D: TBA) - India Ennenga ("Treme") has scored a role on the upcoming drama, which focuses on a small town that is turned upside down when several local people, who have been long presumed dead suddenly reappear, bringing with them both positive and detrimental consequences. She'll play Camille, "one of the twin daughters to Jack (Mark Pellegrino), a rugged father who loses his girls in a school bus crash four years prior." (Deadline.com)

UNTITLED KNIGHTS TEMPLAR PROJECT (History, New!) - Oscar-nominated screenwriter Keir Pearson (Hotel Rwanda) is spearheading a new four-hour mini-series at the network, which "tells the true story of three brothers, all knights, during the first Crusade, as they make the long journey through the Holy Lands to recapture Jerusalem, ultimately bringing rise to the Knights Templar." Said effort is set up at executive producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron's Sony Pictures Television-based Storyline Entertainment. Pearson will serve as a co-executive producer with Storyline's Mark Nicholson as a producer. (Deadline.com)

AND IN OTHER NEWS... - CBS Television Distribution has opted not to move forward with the second season of "The Arsenio Hall Show" despite gaining said clearances in February (@ArsenioHall); Keith Powell will recur on "The Newsroom" as "the new Human Resources Vice President for AWM" (Deadline.com); Mark L. Young is bound for HBO's revival of "The Comeback" as "Valerie's nephew and USC film student who is part of the camera crew shooting Valerie around Hollywood" (Deadline.com); Jonathan Scarfe has booked an arc on "Hell on Wheels" as "an old war buddy to Cullen Bohannon (Anson Mount), who has a knack for getting himself and others into sticky predicaments" (Deadline.com); Matt Williams and David McFadzean are developing a TV series based on Dete Meserve's debut novel "Good Sam" (Deadline.com); Jonathan Keltz's Leith has been upped to regular for season two of "Reign" (Deadline.com); and Nathaniel Buzolic will reprise his "The Vampire Diaries" role of Kol Mikaelson on "The Originals" next season (TVLine.com).
