OVATION DEBUTS SEASON FIVE OF ITS ORIGINAL SERIES "THE ART OF" ON SEPTEMBER 6

All New Episodes Feature The Art Of: Relaxation, Dance, Light and Noodles - Airing Sunday Nights at 8 pm ET

SANTA MONICA, CA - August 17, 2015 - Ovation, America's only arts network, kicks off season five of its popular original series The Art Of, a weekly half-hour series which focuses on a broad array of alternative and unique art forms, on September 6. This season, Ovation travels across the country for a look at how meditation gurus have turned relaxation into a fine art; how various styles of dance have taken shape; how illumination mixes art and science to dramatic effect in installations large and small; and how Japanese, Chinese and Italian chefs approach the art of noodle-making differently. All new episodes premiere Sunday nights at 8 pm ET, only on Ovation.

Each episode of The Art Of profiles three artists who are creating boundary-pushing work in media that are not part of the traditional definition of "art." Focusing on the celebrated, as well as the undiscovered, this series explores the creative process behind each featured art form and uncovers how and why these artists do what they do. Here are the season five highlights:

September 6 - The Art Of: Relaxation takes a look at the benefits of meditation and how it affects the mind and body by meeting with the Allied Awareness program. Next, healer Jamie Ford performs a sound bath, a different and unexpected way to find relaxation, and an interior designer turns one woman's bathroom into an at-home spa oasis.

September 13 - The Art Of: Dance travels from Los Angeles, where a dance troupe wows with "architecture in motion," performing acrobatic and modern dance movement set on a variety of oversized kinetic structures; to a Miami, Florida church, where the Tattooed Ballerinas create an on-the-spot performance. Finally, in Austin, Texas, China Smith fills a void in the neighborhood she grew up in and teaches her students a unique fusion of ballet, modern and African movement.

September 20 - The Art Of: Light discovers what it took for the Illuminate the Arts project to erect the largest light sculpture in the world on the Bay Area's Bay Bridge, spanning almost 2 miles wide and 500 feet high. Then, artist Todd Sanders' shows how he handcrafts his modern vintage neon sign art, while artist Eric Zammitt creates works using colored acrylic and light's luminosity to create sculptures and unique "paintings".

September 27 - The Art Of: Noodles explores Japanese, Chinese and Italian cuisines and the fascination and passion for making noodles with stops at M.Y. China in San Francisco, Ivan Ramen in New York, and Bucato in Los Angeles.

Ovation will feature a sneak peek of The Art Of: Relaxation on VOD and TVE on August 30, with all subsequent episodes being available on VOD and TVE the day after the broadcast premiere.
