BEING MARY JANE (BET) - Showrunner Erica Shelton Kodish has inked a multi-year overall deal with CBS Television Studios where she'll develop new series projects. (Deadline.com)
DEADLIER THAN THE MALE (TNT) - Bryant Tardy (Logan) has joined the cast of the drama pilot as Jay: "Damaged but still charmingly optimistic, Jay is Jess' best friend at the group home where they live, St. Jerome." (Deadline.com)
EAST OF HOPE (FOX, New!) - Peter Mattei ("Outsiders") has sold a potential drama to the network "set in an All-American working class town which centers around two families divided by a past event, and reconnected by blood. Both tie their hopes and dreams to the high school basketball team, which they see as their ticket to a better life." The project, which has a penalty attached, is set up at 20th Century Fox Television-based Lee Daniels Entertainment with Lee Daniels also executive producing. (Deadline.com)
FACES (FOX, New!) - Jim Piddock has sold a potential drama to the network about "a British gangster who comes to Los Angeles with his family for the funeral of his eldest son. But, when he learns his son didn't die in an accident - but was in fact murdered - his stay in America becomes indefinitely extended, as he looks to discover who killed him, exact his revenge, and see if he can legitimize his crime family." The Mark Gordon Company's Mark Gordon will also executive produce for 20th Century Fox Television. (Variety.com)
FERTILE (ABC, New!) - Annie Neal (Beauty Queen) has booked a single-camera comedy at the Alphabet about Amy, "a late-thirtysomething, Cleveland-based fertility doctor who, after an earth-shattering curveball in her personal life, opens her own start-up clinic in the heart of the Midwest." Sony Pictures Television is behind the half-hour with Doug Robinson's studio-based DRP Doug Robinson Productions also executive producing. (Deadline.com)
FOR THE PEOPLE (ABC) - The Alphabet has halted production on the midseason drama in order to "rework the upcoming scripts, which had already been completed, to better fit the new dynamic on the show." Said decision follows the recasting of two principal roles with Britt Robertson and Jasmin Savoy Brown. (Deadline.com)
QUALITY OF LIFE (CBS, New!) - Jamie Lee Curtis is attached to star in multi-camera comedy for the Eye "set at a family-run funeral home, tackling life through the unique perspective that growing up in a funeral home gives you. Curtis will play the family matriarch." Janis Hirsch is penning the half-hour with Curtis and The Tannenbaum Co.'s Eric and Kim Tannenbaum likewise executive producing for CBS Television Studios. VICTORY (FOX, New!) - Julian Breece ("Buppies") has scored a put pilot commitment from the network for a new drama set in the world of competitive gospel choirs which "tells the inspirational story of a prodigal son and a group of forgotten young people who must rise above their personal hardships to save a church and heal a broken community through the power of song." Lee Daniels and Kevin Donahue will also executive produce via the former's 20th Century Fox Television-based Lee Daniels Entertainment. (Deadline.com)
