AZNBBGRL (Freeform) - Cathy Bui, Lynn Kim Do and Jazelle Villanuev have been tapped to star in the drama pilot. Bui will play Anh, "a hard-working girl focused on getting into a top college"; with Do as the outspoken Jenny, "born to a well-off family, but constricted by her parent's expectations;" and Villanueva as Dang-Dang, "a ferocious young woman who can't seem to escape her troubled past" Additionally, Quentin Nguyen-Duy has been cast as Richie, "a rising member of a local street gang with musical aspirations"; with Alejandro Akara as Gabriel, "Anh's ex-boyfriend who's still in love with her, but his parents' overly conservative views pose complications"; Audrey Huynh as Bella, "Jenny's younger sister who presents a perfect front for her parents but relaxes into the snarky teen she really is away from their eyes"; and Cat Ly as Ah-Yee (Anh's aunt), "a strong-willed Chinese Vietnamese American restaurant owner who's blindsided by an extortionist." CHUCKY (Syfy/USA Network) - Lachlan Watson will reprise their role of Glen/Glenda from "Seed of Chucky" in the upcoming second season of the TV series. (Pride.com)
FALLOUT (Amazon) - Kyle MacLachlan, Xelia Mendes-Jones and Aaron Moten will join Ella Purnell and Walton Goggins in the streamer's video game adaptation. No specifics however were given about their roles. (Variety.com)
FARAWAY DOWNS (Hulu, New!) - Baz Luhrmann's 2008 film "Australia," starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman, is being expanded into a limited series coming to the streaming service. The six-episode installment "will be comprised of footage that was captured for the 2008 film, along with an expanded, serialized version of the story with a new ending and updated soundtrack." Luhrmann, Catherine Martin, Schuyler Weiss and Catherine Knapman are the executive producers for 20th Television. (Deadline.com)
FLASH, THE (The CW) - Original cast member Candice Patton has closed a deal to continue on the series for its ninth season. (TVLine.com)
LIONESS (Paramount+) - Creator Taylor Sheridan is taking over as showrunner of the Zoe Saldaña/Laysla De Oliveira-led series. He'll succeed Thomas Brady who was previously tapped as showrunner but "creative differences led to the producers and Brady agreeing to part ways amicably." Production on the series begins in September. (Variety.com)
WHO'S THE BOSS? (Freevee, New!) - Tony Danza and Alyssa Milano are set to reteam for a sequel to their 1984-1992 series: "Set 30 years after the events of the original series, the sequel will focus on former Major League Baseball player/retired housekeeper Tony Micelli (Danza) and his relationship with his daughter Samantha (Milano). She is now a single mother, living in the family house. In line with Lear's classic shows, the new comedy will explore generational differences, as well as opposing worldviews and parenting styles within the dynamic of a modern family in 2022." Mike Royce and Brigitte Muñoz-Liebowitz are penning the project for Sony Pictures Television with all four executive producing alongside Norman Lear and Brent Miller of Act III Productions and Dan Farah of Farah Films.
