CHICAGO FIRE (NBC) - Original cast member Taylor Kinney is "taking a leave of absence to deal with a personal matter." No other details were given. (Deadline.com)
CROSS (Amazon) - Stacie Greenwell will recur on the Aldis Hodge-led drama as Shawna De Lackner, "who is described as straightforward and perceptive and doesn't suffer fools gladly. A seasoned detective at the Metro PD, she pays close attention to detail when it comes to both her cases and her appearance." (Deadline.com)
FORGIVE AND FORGET (ABC, New!) - Eugene Garcia-Cross has sold a new multi-camera comedy to the Alphabet which "follows Ben Flemings, who, when his life-of-the-party father is diagnosed with Alzheimer's, is forced to take in the one man he's worked his whole life not to become." Robin Shorr and Ty Burrell are also attached to executive produce for 20th Television. (Deadline.com)
GEEK GIRL (Netflix, New!) - Holly Smale's series of young adult novels are being developed into a 10-part series at the streamer, about "a gawky teenager who is plucked from obscurity to embark on a modeling career." Waterside Studios, Nelvana, Corus Entertainment, Aircraft Pictures and RubyRock Pictures are among the producers with the Canadian and British co-production set to begin filming later this year. Jeff Norton and Zoƫ Rocha are presumably among the executive producers. (Deadline.com)
I CAN'T RIGHT NOW (NBC, New!) - Comedian Heather McMahan is set to star in a proposed comedy at the network about Heather McDaniels, "who is juggling a budding comedy career with her mom, sister and boyfriend pulling her in every which way." The semi-autobiographical project was also penned by McMahan with Jen Zaborowski, Dan Levy, Patrick Chu and Ali Krug likewise executive producing for Universal Television and Annapurna. (THR.com)
MOSQUITO COAST, THE (Apple TV+) - The Justin Theroux/Melissa George-led drama has been canceled after two seasons. (Deadline.com)
NCIS: LOS ANGELES (CBS) - The veteran drama will sign off after 14 seasons and 322 episodes on May 14. "For 14 seasons, NCIS: Los Angeles has been a stalwart of our lineup with characters who were a joy to watch," said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment. "From day one, the cast, producers and crew were amazing network/studio partners, and their teamwork, talent and spirit vividly came through on the screen. We are so grateful for the collaboration and remarkable run of these treasured members of our CBS family, and plan to give them the big sendoff they and their fans deserve." (Deadline.com)
ONE OF US IS LYING/VAMPIRE ACADEMY (Peacock) - The streamer has axed both YA series. The former ran for two seasons while the latter has ended after one. (Deadline.com)
SYMPATHIZER, THE (HBO) - Duy Nguyen, Kayli Tran and VyVy Nguyen have been cast in the drama series, which has also added Marc Munden and Fernando Meireilles as directors. Duy Nguyen will play Man, "the Captain's blood brother and spy handler. His magnetism and intellect draw the Captain into working for the Communist cause." Kayli Tran portrays The Communist Spy, "a determined woman who's willing to put everything on the line for the cause, but when she finds herself in enemy hands, her commitment is tested." And VyVy Nguyen plays The Major's Wife, "a seemingly sweet woman whose fierce devotion to her husband and country leads to dire ramifications." (Deadline.com)
