CROWN, THE (Netflix) - Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu will reportedly appear as Monique Ritz, "widow of Charles Ritz who sold his family-named Paris hotel to Mohamed Al Fayed in 1979," in the show's upcoming fifth season. (Deadline.com, 3/20)
DEAR EDWARD (Apple TV+) - The Ann Napolitano adaptation has cast Amy Forsyth as Linda, whose "boyfriend dies tragically in the crash, she is left pregnant with a part time job as a hostess and no support system"; Carter Hudson as John, "Lacey's husband, and Edward's uncle"; Idris DeBrand as Kojo, "charismatic, funny, and open hearted entrepreneur who must leave his beloved home country of Ghana to care for his niece, Becks, after his sister perishes in the crash"; Ivan Shaw as Steve, "always been the golden child, Steve reevaluates his priorities when his estranged brother perishes in the crash"; Jenna Qureshi as Mahira, "Jordan's secret girlfriend who develops a close relationship with Edward after the crash"; Anna Uzele as Adriana, "a whip-smart activist who is just starting her career and reevaluates her professional life after she loses her grandmother, the second-ever black Congresswoman"; Dario Ladani Sanchez as Sam, "an up-and-coming graphic designer with a beautiful wife and young daughter"; Eva Ariel Binder as Shay, "Edward's friend and lifeline after he moves in next door following the crash"; Brittany S. FINE BALANCE, A (HBO, New!) - Rohinton Mistry's novel - which "centers on a rich widow, two tailors and a young student from vastly different parts of Indian society whose lives intersect in a tiny apartment" - is being developed as a seven-part series by the pay channel. Blueprint Pictures and Northwood Entertainment are behind the project with Ritesh Batra attached to write and direct. (Variety.com)
FLEISHMAN IS IN TROUBLE (FX on Hulu) - Michael Gaston will recur on the Jesse Eisenberg-led limited series as Dr. Bartuck, "Toby's imposing boss at the hospital who is all handshakes and fundraising winks." (Deadline.com)
FRONT LINE, THE (ABC, New!) - Marc Halsey has sold a potential drama to the Alphabet, billed as "a feel-good medical procedural centered on Sebastian "Bass" Clark, a professional athlete-turned-doctor who left the front line of the football field to start over on the front lines of healthcare as a medical resident - a transition that a handful of real-life NFL players actually have made. The project follows Bass and an ensemble of doctors and staff at a prestigious Pittsburgh hospital as they navigate high-stakes medical cases with all the adrenaline, warmth and big-heartedness of a great sports movie." MAURY (Syndication) - Maury Povich released a statement of Sunday confirming the show's current 24th season will be its last: "Six years ago when I was ready to retire, my the NBCUniversal family asked me to continue the show. Even though I told them I was ready for assisted living, out of loyalty to NBCUniversal and my more than 100 staff and crew members, Tracie Wilson and I agreed to one more deal. I'm so proud of my relationship with NBCUniversal and all those who worked on the Maury show but as I occasionally tell my guests on Maury, 'Enough, already!'" UNTITLED ALEX PINA PROJECT (Netflix, New!) - "Money Heist" creator Alex Pina is spearheading a new high-concept series at the streamer "set in a luxury underground bunker, where the country's 1 percent retreat to escape catastrophe on the surface." The project is part of an extension of Pina's overall deal with Netflix, home to his Vancouver Media banner. (THR.com)
WEDNESDAY (Netflix) - Christina Ricci, who played Wednesday Addams in the Barry Sonenfeld-directed films, has signed onto the small screen take in a yet-to-be-revealed role. Jenna Ortega plays Wednesday Addams in said incarnation. (Deadline.com)
WINCHESTERS, THE (The CW) - Meg Donnelly and Drake Rodger have scored the title roles on the "Supernatural" prequel series pilot. Donnelly will play Mary Campbell: "At 19 years old, Mary Campbell has been fighting the forces of darkness since she was a child. After losing someone close to her, the hardened hunter considers quitting the family business - until her father's disappearance and the arrival of newcomer John Winchester forces her to lead a new team." And Rodger will portray John Winchester: "Recently returned from Vietnam, the selfless and clearheaded John Winchester finds a new mission back home, where traces of his father's past lead him to a secret organization and a whole new war as a hunter." Samantha Smith and Jeffrey Dean Morgan played the adult versions of the characters in the parent series while Amy Gumenick and Matt Cohen also appeared as younger incarnations. (Deadline.com)
