BLESS THIS MESS (FOX) - Pam Grier, J.T. Neal and Christina Offley have all been cast in the Lake Bell/Dax Shepard-led comedy pilot, about a newlywed couple who gives up their drab and unfulfilling lives in NYC and moves to Nebraska to live a simpler life. It doesn't work out like they planned. Grier will play Constance Terry, "whose charisma and maternal nature makes her the hub of the town's social scene/woes/information/gossip." Offley then is Constance's daughter, Cherry Terry, "a bored teenager with a secret creativity/intelligence that is misunderstood in this town." And Neal is Jacob, "an inexplicably gorgeous, corn-fed Nebraska local who works in the town store." Bell, Shepard, Liz Meriwether, Katherine Pope and Erin O'Malley are the executive producers. (Deadline.com)
CROSSING SWORDS (Hulu, New!) - John Harvatine IV and Tom Root have sold an adult animated comedy pilot to the streaming service. The logline: "When Patrick, a goodhearted young peasant with dreams of earning his knighthood and dispensing justice to evildoers, lands a coveted squire position at the royal castle, his dream job quickly turns into a nightmare. In this kingdom, corruption starts at the top, and staying true to his lofty goals will be a thornier proposition than Patrick anticipated. It's all the sex, violence and full-frontal nudity you'd expect from a "premium fantasy soap starring pre-school toys."" Seth Green, Matt Senreich and Eric Towner of Stoopid Buddy Stoodios are also among the executive producers for Sony Pictures TV. (Deadline.com)
LA NIÑA (FX, New!) - Hilary Bettis is looking to import the Colombian drama, in which "after escaping a forced life of servitude to a ruthless cartel in Mexico, a woman known as "La Niña" struggles to recapture her once promising life and keep the past behind her." The Caracol Television-produced original is currently available in the U.S. on Netflix. Propagate Content's Ben Silverman, Howard T. Owens and Jay Weisleder will also executive produce the domestic take for FX Productions. (Deadline.com)
LITTLE VOICE (Apple, New!) - Jessie Nelson (Waitress) is spearheading 10-episode half-hour romantic dramedy for the company which "explores the universal journey of finding your authentic voice in your early 20s. It is described as a fresh, intensely romantic tale of the search to find your true voice... and then the courage to use it." Nelson will write and direct the premiere installment as well as executive produce alongside Sara Bareilles, who will provide original music, J.J. Abrams and Ben Stephenson for the latter's Warner Bros. TV-based Bad Robot Productions. (Deadline.com)
SUPERSTITION (Syfy) - Co-star Robinne Lee has indicated the series won't be getting a second season. (@robinnelee)
TEMPTATION ISLAND (USA, New!) - The cable channel is in "advanced negotiations" for a revival of the much-ballyhooed 2001-2003 FOX series, which "featured four couples who get separated when they arrive at an exotic island location, with the four guys living in one section with a dozen female models, and the four women residing in another section with a dozen attractive men." Banijay Group is behind the project. No auspices were given. (Deadline.com)
