ANIMAL KINGDOM (TNT) - Jon Beavers and Grant Harvey are both set to recur on the upcoming season as Jake and Colin, respectively, "part of a crew living off the grid, committing armed robberies up and down the California coast. Jake is a good-natured, career criminal. His laid back demeanor is in stark contrast to the violent Colin, an emotionally damaged vet." (Deadline.com)
ARROW (The CW) - Stephen Amell took to social media to reveal the show's recently ordered eighth season will be its last. Look for the final 10 episodes beginning this fall. Separately, Ernie Hudson will guest star later this season as "a Four Star General of the DIA (Defense Intelligence Agency) that Diggle (David Ramsey) is forced to reconnect with for a Team Arrow mission despite unresolved tension from their past." (@StephenAmell, Deadline.com)
BAKER AND THE BEAUTY, THE (ABC) - Victor Rasuk has been tapped to star opposite Nathalie Kelley in the drama pilot, about "the impossible Miami love story between a simple baker, Daniel Garcia (Rasuk) and an international superstar, Noa Hollander (Kelley) who has it all: She's the most famous woman in the country, the beautiful daughter of a real estate magnate, a successful model with an international career and, up until now, one half of a Hollywood power couple." Rasuk's Daniel is "the eldest son of a very tight-knight and loving immigrant family. Honest, grounded, comfortable in his own skin, Daniel's future is all mapped out for him. He'll inherit the family bakery, marry his long-time girlfriend, and have a really nice life. But are those things what he really wants?" (Deadline.com)
CAROL'S SECOND ACT (CBS) - Kyle MacLachlan has signed onto the Patricia Heaton-led comedy pilot as Dr. Frost: "Handsome, affable and accomplished, he is the Senior Attending Physician on the ward (as well as the Department Chair) and thinks he's funnier than he is. Considerably more empathetic than Dr. Maya (Ito Aghayere), Dr. Frost takes an immediate shine to Carol." (Deadline.com)
FEAR THE WALKING DEAD (AMC) - Alexa Nisenson, who recurs as Charlie on the series, will be promoted to regular on the upcoming fifth season. (Deadline.com)
FILTHY RICH (FOX) - Gerald McRaney, Steve Harris and Melia Kreiling will all join Kim Cattrall in the Southern Gothic drama pilot, about two strong, sharp women who will go to any length to protect their loved ones and get their due. McRaney will play Eugene Monroe: "An extremely southern, charming, charismatic man, he is Margaret's (Cattrall) husband, one half of the Christian powerhouse couple that runs the Sunshine Network." Harris then will play Franklin Lee, "the Monroe family lawyer and a suit at the Sunshine Network"; with Kreiling as Ginger Sweet, "a beautiful and fierce woman with business savvy, who grew up dirt poor in Vegas." (Deadline.com)
HYPNOTIST'S LOVE STORY, THE (ABC) - Jane Seymour has joined the cast of the drama pilot as Anne, "Ellen's (yet to be cast) mother, a stylish, independent single mother by choice who is confounded by her daughter's longing for traditional romance." (Deadline.com)
JANE THE NOVELA (The CW) - Marcia Cross is bound for the proposed spin-off pilot as Renata, Felix's "manipulative and glamorous mother who will stop at nothing to secure her son's legacy, even if it means standing in the way of his happiness." (Deadline.com)
JEOPARDY! (Syndication) - In a video posted to social media, host Alex Trebek revealed he has been diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. "I plan to beat the low survival rate statistics for this disease," he said. "Truth told, I have to! Because under the terms of my contract, I have to host 'Jeopardy!' for three more years!" (@Jeopardy)
LIKE MAGIC (NBC) - French Stewart and Mike Lane have both been cast in the single-camera comedy pilot as Val Evans, "a mentalist/illusionist who's been the biggest act at the Magic Palace the last few years"; and Anthony, "Holly's (Jee Young Han) best friend from middle school who's also a magician," respectively. (Deadline.com)
LOST BOYS, THE (The CW) - Rio Mangini and Del Zamora are the latest bound for the feature-turned-TV pilot as Sam, "Michael's younger brother, whose high level of literacy is matched by an equally high level of snark"; and Frank Garcia, "Lucy's father, a cantankerous old hippie who owns a beloved local bed and breakfast," respectively. Corey Haim and Barnard Hughes originated the roles in the 1987 feature. (Deadline.com)
RICHES TO RAGS (CBS) - Pauley Perrette has signed onto the Jaime Camil-led, multi-camera comedy pilot as Jackie: "Jackie is a tough, sharp-witted, loving but struggling single mom with a 9-year-old son. The manager of a bar, Jackie is feisty, not easily cowed, sometimes hot-headed, the kind of woman who knows her way around a tool box and an acetylene torch. She's not thrilled when her snobby rich sister and husband suddenly show up on her doorstep, but she comes to remember how much she loves her sister and learns to appreciate them both in her life." (Deadline.com)
RUN (HBO) - The pay channel has ordered Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Vicky Jones's comedy pilot to the series. The project centers on Ruby (Merritt Wever), a woman living a humdrum existence who one day gets a text inviting her to fulfill a youthful pact, promising true love and self-reinvention, by stepping out of her life to take a journey with her oldest flame (Domhnall Gleeson). Emily Leo and director Kate Dennis also executive produce for Entertainment One, DryWrite and Wigwam Films. (Deadline.com)
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN (CBS) - Michael Angarano and Briga Heelan are set to topline the comedy pilot, about Evan (Angarano) "who, with the help of his group of friends, sets out to accomplish a list of challenges he wrote for himself years ago in an effort to turn around his banal life." Heelan then plays Kate, "the entrepreneurial co-owner of the city's coolest pierogi shop. A free spirit and product of divorce, Kate wittingly questions almost everything and doesn't want to be tied down by the shackles of conventional domestic norms." Additionally, Joseph Port and Joe Wiseman have signed on as showrunners. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED BRIE LARSON PROJECT (Apple, New!) - Brie Larson is attached to star in a new drama at the company based on Amaryrillis Fox's upcoming memoir, described as "a provocative and contemporary look at a young woman's journey in the CIA, told through the prism of her closest relationships." Megan Martin is in talks to spearhead the project, which comes from 51 Entertainment and Media Res. Larson and Martin then will executive produce alongside Lynette Howell Taylor, Samantha Housman and Michael Ellenberg. Dani Gorin serves as a co-executive producer while Fox will receive a producing credit. (Deadline.com)
WRIGHT (ABC) - Nicholas Pinnock has scored the title role on the drama pilot, about Aaron, "a prisoner who becomes a lawyer, litigating cases for other inmates while fighting to overturn his own life sentence for a crime he didn't commit. His quest for freedom is driven by his desperate desire to get back to the family he loves and reclaim the life that was stolen from him. The show also will, through the window of his ferocious struggle and his complicated relationship with a progressive female prison warden, examine the flaws and challenges in our penal and legal systems." (Deadline.com)
ZOEY'S EXTRAORDINARY PLAYLIST (NBC) - Peter Gallagher and John Clarence Stewart have both been cast in the Jane Levy-led drama pilot as Mitch, Zoey's father; and Simon, "a marketing exec at Zoey's tech company," respectively. (Deadline.com)
