FRESHWATER (FX, New!) - Akwaeke Emezi is developing a small screen take on her novel at the cable channel about "Ada, a Nigerian student in her final year of college who finds out that she has three spirits living in her subconscious. They eventually take control of her, threatening to ruin her life and sanity." FX Productions is behind the drama with Tamara P. Carter also executive producing. (Variety.com)
GENTEFIED (Netflix) - Julissa Calderon, Annie Gonzalez, Laura Patalano, Felipe Esparza, Rafael Sigler, Jaime Alvarez, Bianca Melgar, Michelle Ortiz, and Alejandro Patiño will all recur on the 10-episode comedy series, about three Mexican-American cousins set in a rapidly changing Los Angeles. They will play Yessika Flores, Lidia Solis, Beatriz, Crazy Dave, Pancho Solis, Javier Fernandez, Nayeli Morales, Connie, and an unspecified character, respectively. (Deadline.com)
GOOD PEOPLE (Amazon) - Martin Short is the latest addition to the Lee Daniels/Whitney Cummings comedy pilot as Dean Ed Brown, "the self-satisfied dean of Sacramento University who has no concept of what's appropriate. He is of the "old guard" in terms of how he sees the world, and his casual sexism causes constant problems for the ombudsman's office." (Deadline.com)
GOOD TROUBLE (Freeform) - Patrisse Cullors, co-founder of Black Lives Matter, has joined the writing staff of the show's second season after serving as a consultant on its freshman run. (Deadline.com)
LINCOLN/UNITED WE FALL (NBC/ABC) - Seth Gordon has signed a new three-year overall deal at Sony Pictures Television, home to his and Julia Gunn's Exhibit A banner for the past eight years. Gordon executive produced both pilots as well as directed the former. Additionally, Gordon directed and executive produced the opening episode for Apple TV+'s "For All Mankind," also at the studio.
