BLACK CAKE (Hulu, New!) - Charmaine Wilkerson's upcoming book is being developed as a series at the streamer, "a family drama wrapped in a murder mystery with a diverse cast of characters and a global setting." Marissa Jo Cerar is penning the project, which has a series order, with Kapital Entertainment's Aaron Kaplan and Harpo Films' Oprah Winfrey and Carla Gardini also executive producing. Emily Rudolf co-executive produces. Its logline is as follows: "In the late 1960s, a runaway bride named Covey disappears into the surf off the coast of Jamaica and is feared drowned or a fugitive on the run for her husband's murder. Fifty years later in California, Eleanor Bennett, a widow in her 60s, loses her battle with cancer, leaving her two estranged children a flash drive that holds previously untold stories of her journey from the Caribbean to America. These stories, narrated by Eleanor, shock her children and challenge everything they thought they knew about their family's origin." (Deadline.com)
HOW TO BE BLACK (ABC, New!) - Baratunde Thurston and Courtney Lilly are developing an animated series at the Alphabet based on the former's memoir, which "focuses on the community and family that raised a young Baratunde in 1980s Washington, D.C." Cinema Gypsy Productions' Laurence Fishburne and Helen Sugland will also executive produce for 20th Television. (Deadline.com)
MILLION LITTLE THINGS, A (ABC) - Co-star Stephanie Szostak will be a recurring guest star going forward on the just-launched fourth season. Said decision "comes as a result of Canada's mandatory 14-day quarantine for travelers entering the country." (TVLine.com)
REBOOT (Hulu) - Leslie Bibb, Rachel Bloom, Michael McKean and Krista Marie Yu will join Keegan-Michael Key, Johnny Knoxville and Calum Worthy in the comedy pilot. Bibb will play Bree, "a former pageant girl from rural Virginia turned sitcom star who left the country after the show to marry a prince"; with Bloom as Hannah, "the young, hip writer with a fresh take on the old sitcom"; McKean as Gordon, "the hacky, narcissistic creator of the late-'90s sitcom"; and Yu as Elaine, "who came from the tech world but now finds herself out of her comfort zone covering the reboot of Step Right Up." (THR.com)
SUPER PUMPED (Showtime) - The anthology series has cast Virginia Kull as Hazelbaker, "a former political operative and the other half of Uber's comms backbone along with Rachel Whetstone"; Amanda Brooks as Rachel Whetstone, "a British-born PR specialist whose skills at maneuvering the press met their ultimate test"; Annie Chang as Angie You, "successful entrepreneur who was the girlfriend of Travis Kalanick (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and sometimes consigliere as Uber began taking off"; Erinn Ruth as Olivia Lungociu, "a tenacious reporter with an ever-present finger on Uber's pulse"; and Mishka Thébaud as Cory Kalanick, "whose attitude fuels the ambition of his older brother Travis." (Deadline.com)
TIC-TAC-DOUGH (NBC, New!) - Tom Bergeron is set to host a reboot of the former game show staple from Village Roadshow Television, which "sees contestants answering questions in various categories in order to put an X or an O on the board." A pilot has been completed for the project with Harry Friedman executive producing. It's not clear which of NBCUniversal's outlets will ultimately be targeted. (Deadline.com)
WOOL (Apple TV+) - Rashida Jones and David Oyelowo are the latest to join Tim Robbins and Rebecca Ferguson in the Hugh Howey adaptation. Oyelowo will play Holston, "the Silo's sheriff," while Jones will play Allison, "his wife who works at IT." (Deadline.com)
