BURNING MEN (Hulu, New!) - Vox Media Studios, Majordomo Media and High Noon Entertainment are set to team for a bracket-style competition series at the streamer in which "we pit pepper growers against one another in a fight to prove whose creation is hottest. Each episode a new region of growers goes head to head in a series of challenges aimed at testing the heat behind their superhots. The winner of each region advances to the finals, where their peppers are put through the rigors in an attempt to determine whose really is hottest. In the end, only one grower will emerge victorious and take the crown for World's Hottest Pepper." No auspices were given. (Deadline.com)
CALL ME KAT (FOX) - Jim Patterson and Maria Ferrari are the latest to be named showrunners of the series. They'll replace season two showrunner Alissa Neubauer, who in turn took over from original showrunner Darlene Hunt. (Deadline.com)
CHEFS VS. WILD (Hulu, New!) - Kiran Jethwa will host a new competition series at the streamer in which "two different world class chefs will be dropped into the wilderness where they'll embark on a grueling and unprecedented mission – survive and forage enough wild ingredients to create a restaurant worthy, five-star meal. Episodes will culminate in the chefs going head-to-head in a "wilderness kitchen," using their foraged ingredients and ingenuity to create savory dishes and, ultimately, impress the judges." Vox Media Studios, Majordomo Media and Leftfield Pictures are behind the effort with Shawn Witt, Gretchen Palek, Jordana Hochman, Chad Mumm, Mark W. Olsen, David Chang, Dave O'Connor, Chris Ying, Christopher C. Chen and Stephen Rankin serving as executive producers. (Deadline.com)
DEAD BOY DETECTIVES (HBO Max) - Beth Schwartz has been tapped as co-showrunner of the upcoming DC Comics series. She'll serve alongside creator Steve Yockey. (Variety.com)
DRAG ME TO DINNER (Hulu, New!) - Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka are set to star in a new food series for the streamer in which "two new pairs of visionary Queens go wig-to-wig in a competition to throw the coolest themed dinner party on a dime." Harris, Burtka, Chad Mumm, Mark W. Olsen, David Chang, Dave O'Connor, Chris Ying, Christopher C. Chen, Todd Lubin, Jay Peterson and James Sunderland are the executive producers for Vox Media Studios, Majordomo Media, Matador Content and Boat Rocker Studios. (Deadline.com)
MRS. AMERICAN PIE (Apple TV+) - Amber Chardae Robinson is the latest addition to the Kristen Wiig-led comedy series as Virginia, "a feminist and business partner to Linda (played by Laura Dern)." (Deadline.com)
SECRET CHEF (Hulu, New!) - David Chang is likewise spearheading a new food series for the streamer in which "ten chefs anonymously rank each other's food through a series of blind tastings. With their true identities concealed, everything will be hidden except the one thing that matters most... the food." Vox Media Studios, Majordomo Media and Spoke Studios are behind the project with Chang, Eric Wattenberg, Scott Lonker, Will Nothacker, Liz Fine, Chad Mumm, Mark W. Olsen, Dave O'Connor, Chris Ying, Christopher C. Chen and Patrick J. Doody as the executive producers. (Deadline.com)
WALKER INDEPENDENCE (The CW) - Gabriela Quezada's Lucia Reyes has been promoted to regular ahead of the prequel series' launch this fall. (Deadline.com)
