BURBANK, Calif. � July 29, 2008 � Paced by "America's Got Talent" which was the most-watched show of the week, NBC tied for #2 in adults 18-49 for the week of July 21-27, averaging a 1.6 rating, 5 share in adults 18-49 and 5.4 million viewers overall, according to in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research.

"America's Got Talent" was the week's #1 show in total viewers. With an average 13.2 million viewers, "Talent" attracted its biggest audience of the current cycle and the largest audience for any non-sports telecast on any network since the May 22 season finale of "Grey's Anatomy." In adults 18-49, "America's Got Talent" ranked #2 among all programs. It ranked #1 among all programs in adults 25-54 and teens 12-17. In fact, "Talent" this week ranked among the top 10 programs in every meaningful demographic measure, male and female � adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 � as well as among kids 2-11.

In its six weeks on the air so far this summer, "America's Got Talent" has now delivered the six most-watched primetime telecasts in total viewers on any network since the May 29 season finale of "Lost" finale (excluding sports telecasts).

Primetime averages for the week of July 21-27 in adults 18-49 were Fox (2.0/6), NBC and CBS (1.6/5), ABC and Univision (1.4/5), CW and Telemundo (0.6/2). In overall total viewers the weekly averages were CBS (6.1 million), Fox (5.5 million), NBC (5.4 million), ABC (4.3 million), Univision (3.3 million), CW (1.6 million) and Telemundo (1.3 million).

Through 44 weeks of the 2007-08 season, Fox leads in primetime's key demographic of adults 18-49, while the race for #2 remains close, with only 0.2 of a rating point separating ABC, CBS and NBC. Season-to-date averages in adults 18-49 for the period September 24, 2007 through July 27, 2008 are Fox (3.8/11), ABC (2.8/8), CBS (2.7/7), NBC (2.6/7), Univision (1.5/4), CW (1.0/3) and Telemundo (0.4/1).

NBC is the only major network that has not seen its audience get significantly older this season versus last and it is now the "second-youngest" of the major broadcast networks. Through the first 44 weeks of the 2007-08 season, NBC is running within 0.4 years of its median age from the prior season (48.8 years this season vs. 48.4 years last season). In this same comparison, ABC's median age has increased by 1.8 years (to 48.9 from 47.1 years old at this point last season), CBS's median age has increased by 0.9 years (to 53.3 from 52.4) and Fox's median age has increased by 1.4 years (to 43.9 from 42.5).

NBC highlights for the week of July 21-27:

* On Monday, "American Gladiators" grew 12 percent week-to-week in 18-49 rating, finishing within 0.1 of a rating point of the time-period lead in 18-49 and ranking #1 in adults 18-34, key male demos, teens and kids.

* In head-to-head competition on Monday, "American Gladiators" outscored the time period premiere of ABC's "High School Musical: Get in the Picture" by 111 percent in adults 18-49, by 150 percent in adults 18-34 and by 80 percent in teens 12-17. In total viewers, the "Gladiators" advantage over "High School Musical: Get in the Picture" was 67 percent or 2.1 million persons.

* Also on Monday, "Nashville Star," which grew by 7 percent in 18-49 versus the prior week, topped the series premiere of ABC's "Wanna Bet" in all key measures. "Star" beat "Bet" by 45 percent in 18-49 rating and by 87 percent or 2.7 million persons in total viewers.

* On Tuesday, "America's Got Talent" delivered its highest total viewership of the summer to date and the biggest total-viewer result for any non-sports telecast on any network since the "Grey's Anatomy" season finale on May 22.

* "America's Got Talent" won its time period in adults 18-49, total viewers and all key ratings measures. In adults 18-49, "Talent" topped first-run slot rivals "Big Brother" by 55 percent and "I Survived a Japanese Game Show" by 62 percent. In total viewers, "Talent" topped the ABC-CBS shows combined by more than 1.6 million viewers.

* On Wednesday, "The Baby Borrowers" ranked #2 in its competitive time period in adults 18-49 and #1 among teens 12-17. "Baby Borrowers" was the #4 show of the week among women 18-34 and the #5 program among teens.

* On Thursday, "Last Comic Standing" ranked #2 in its two-hour time period in adults 18-49 and #1 in all key adult-male demographics - men 18-34, men 18-49 and men 25-54. "Last Comic" grew by 19 percent in 18-49 rating from its first half-hour to its fourth.

* "Dateline NBC" was the top-rated show on television Friday night in adults 18-49 and adults 25-54. Paced by "Dateline," NBC tied for #1 Friday in adults 18-49 and 25-54 and won the night outright in total viewers.

* On Sunday, "Dateline NBC" won the final hour of primetime by all key measures, topping the ABC-CBS competition combined in both adults 18-49 and total viewers from 10-11 p.m.

Ratings reflect "live plus same day" data unless otherwise noted. Season-to-date figures are averages of "live plus seven day" data except for the two most recent weeks, which are "live plus same day."

On Monday, July 21 from 8-9 p.m. ET, "American Gladiators" (1.9 rating, 6 share in adults 18-49, 5.2 million viewers overall) ranked #2 in adults 18-49, finishing within 0.1 of a rating point of the time-period lead in 18-49, while ranking #1 in adults 18-34, men 18-34, men 18-49, men 25-54 (tied), teens 12-17 and kids 2-11. "Gladiators" grew 12 percent in 18-49 rating versus the prior week (1.9 vs. 1.7)

"American Gladiators" outscored the time period premiere of ABC's "High School Musical: Get in the Picture" by 111 percent in adults 18-49 (1.9 vs. 0.9), by 150 percent in adults 18-34 (1.5 vs. 0.6) and by 80 percent in teens 12-17 (0.9 vs. 0.5) in head-to-head competition from 8-9 p.m. In total viewers, the "Gladiators" advantage over "High School Musical: Get in the Picture" was 67 percent or 2.1 million persons (5.2 million vs. 3.1 million).

Monday from 9-10 p.m. ET, "Nashville Star" (1.6/4 in 18-49, 5.8 million viewers overall) grew 7 percent in 18-49 versus the prior week (1.6 vs. 1.5). In head-to-head competition, "Nashville Star" topped the series premiere of ABC's "Wanna Bet" in all key measures, including adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54 and total viewers. "Star" beat "Bet" by 45 percent in 18-49 rating (1.6 vs. 1.1) and by 87 percent or 2.7 million persons in total viewers (5.8 million vs. 3.1 million).

Monday from 10-11 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" (1.6/5 in 18-49, 5.1 million viewers overall) ranked #2 in adults 18-49 and total viewers and tied for #1 among men 25-54.

On Tuesday, July 22 from 8-9 p.m. ET, "Celebrity Family Feud" (1.8/6 in 18-49, 7.3 million viewers overall) ranked #2 in adults 18-49. From its first half-hour to its second, "Feud" increased by 12 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.9 from a 1.7) and by 13 percent in total viewers (to 7.7 million from 6.8 million).

Tuesday from 9-10 p.m. ET, "America's Got Talent" (3.4/10 in 18-49, 13.2 million viewers overall) delivered its highest total viewership of the summer to date and the biggest total-viewer result for any non-sports telecast on any network since the "Grey's Anatomy" season finale on May 22.

"America's Got Talent" ranked #1 in the 9-10 p.m. hour in adults 18-49, total viewers and all key ratings measures. In adults 18-49, "Talent" topped CBS's first-run "Big Brother" by 55 percent (3.4 vs. 2.2) and beat ABC's first-run "I Survived a Japanese Game Show" by 62 percent (3.4 vs. 2.1). In total viewers, "America's Got Talent" beat the first run ABC-CBS shows combined by more than 1.6 million viewers (13.2 million for "Talent" vs. 11.6 million for "Big Brother"/"I Survived" combined).

From its first half-hour to its second, "Talent" increased by 16 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 3.6/10 from a 3.1/9) and by 10 percent or 1.3 million persons in total viewers (to 13.8 million from 12.5 million), while both "Big Brother" and "I Survived a Japanese Game Show" declined half-hour to half-hour.

Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (1.8/6 in 18-49, 6.6 million viewers overall) ranked #2 in adults 18-49 and #1 in adults, men and women 18-34. The "SVU" rebroadcast was up 20 percent in 18-49 rating versus the prior week (1.8 vs. 1.5), when it faced competition from Major League Baseball's All-Star Game. .

NBC ranked #2 on Tuesday night in adults 18-49 and #1 in total viewers.

On Wednesday, July 23 from 9-10:01 p.m. ET, "The Baby Borrowers" (2.0/6 in 18-49, 4.7 million viewers overall) built by 82 percent in 18-49 rating on its lead-in from the previous hour � a 1.1/4 in 18-49 and 3.2 million viewers overall for an 8-9 p.m. encore of the previous week's" Baby Borrowers."

"The Baby Borrowers" at 9 p.m. ranked #2 in its competitive time period in adults 18-49, adults 18-34 and other key measures and was #1 among teens 12-17.

Wednesday from 10-11 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Law & Order" averaged a 1.3/4 in 18-49 and 4.6 million viewers overall.

On Thursday, July 24 from 8-10 p.m. ET, "Last Comic Standing" (1.7/6 in 18-49, 4.3 million viewers overall) ranked #2 in adults 18-49 and #1 in men 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54. From its first half-hour to its fourth, "Last Comic" increased by 19 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.9 from a 1.6) and by 15 percent in total viewers (to 4.8 million from 4.2 million). From 10-11 p.m., "Fear Itself" averaged a 1.1/3 in 18-49 and 3.2 million viewers overall. "Fear" increased by 10 percent in 18-49 rating and 9 percent in total viewers versus the prior week's telecast.

On Friday, July 25 from 8-8:30 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Most Outrageous Moments" averaged a 0.9/4 in 18-49 and 4.0 million viewers overall. From 8:30-9 p.m., another encore edition of "Most Outrageous Moments" (1.1/5 in 18-49, 4.4 million viewers overall) built on its lead-in by 22 percent in 18-49 rating. .

Friday from 9-11p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" (1.6/6 in 18-49, 6.1 million viewers overall) was the top-rated show on any network Friday in adults 18-49 and adults 25-54. From its first half-hour to its fourth, "Dateline" increased by 67 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 2.0/7 from a 1.2/5) and by 52 percent, or more than 2.5 million persons in total viewers (to 7.5 million from 4.9 million).

From 9-10 p.m., "Dateline" ranked #2 in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key measures. From 10-11 p.m. "Dateline" was #1 in total viewers and all key demos.

NBC tied for #1 Friday in adults 18-49 and adults 25-54 and won the night outright in total viewers.

On Saturday, July 26 from 8-8:30 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "The Office" averaged a 0.5/2 in 18-49 and 1.4 million viewers overall and from 8:30-9 p.m. a second rebroadcast of "The Office" delivered a 0.6/2 in 18-49 and 1.4 million viewers overall. At 9 p.m., a rebroadcast of "Law & Order" averaged a 0.7/3 in 18-49 and 3.8 million viewers overall.

Saturday from 10-11 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" (1.0/4 in 18-49, 4.9 million viewers overall) ranked #2 in adults 18-49 and #1 in total viewers and all key adult-female demographics: women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54.

On Sunday, July 27 from 7-8 p.m. ET, encore telecasts of "Most Outrageous Moments" delivered a 1.0/4 in 18-49 and 3.5 million viewers from 7-7:30 p.m. and a 1.1/4 in 18-49 and 3.8 million viewers overall from 7:30-8 p.m.

From 8-9 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "America's Got Talent" averaged a 1.5/5 in 18-49 and 5.5 million viewers overall. From its first half-hour to its second, "Talent" increased by 21 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.7/5 from a 1.4/4) and by 17 percent in total viewers (to 5.9 million from 5.0 million). The "America's Got Talent" encore ranked #2 in the time period in total viewers.

Sunday from 9-11 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" averaged a 2.0/6 in 18-49 and 7.6 million viewers overall. From its first half-hour to its fourth, "Dateline" increased by 28 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 2.3/6 from a 1.8/5) and by 21 percent, or 1.5 million persons in total viewers (to 8.3 million from 6.8 million).

From 9-10 p.m. ET, "Dateline ranked #2 in adults 18-49 and #1 in adults 25-54, total viewers and the key adult-female demographics of women 18-49 and 25-54. From 10-11 p.m., "Dateline" ranked #1 in all key measures and topped the ABC-CBS competition combined in adults 18-49 and total viewers.
