FOX Bumps '5th Grader' Return to September, Extends 'Lyrics'
By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- FOX has quietly bumped the second season launch of "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" by one week, network sources confirmed this afternoon.

A repeat of the show and an encore of "Don't Forget the Lyrics" will instead run on Thursday, August 30. The following week (Thursday, September 6) "5th Grader" will then bow its sophomore season with back-to-back episodes.

Said changes also bump a pair of previously unaired episodes of "Nanny 911" originally slated for the nights.

As for "Lyrics," FOX has ordered 13 additional episodes of the newcomer, bringing its total commitment to 19 hours.

Said renewal comes after just two broadcasts of the karaoke-themed game show. It's not clear when the new episodes will roll out.

Meanwhile in other FOX news, the network has filled in some of the gaps between its summer and fall schedules as its current entries "On the Lot," "Hell's Kitchen" and "So You Think You Can Dance" will all wrap the week of August 13.

Monday nights then will see a rebroadcast of last month's special "TV's Funniest Moments" on August 20, repeats of "Prison Break" and "Bones" on August 27 and September 3 plus back-to-back "Prison Break" repeats on September 10.

Tuesdays nights as previously announced will see the one-hour premiere of "Anchorwoman" on August 21 with repeats of "'Til Death" (8:30/7:30c) and "House" (9:00/8:00c) filling out the night on August 28, September 4 and September 11.

Then on September 18, look for an all-new, one-hour "Cops" 20th anniversary special at 8:00/7:00c followed by an encore of "K-Ville's" premiere from the previous night.

Also on tap: a repeat of "5th Grader" will lead into the "2007 Teen Choice Awards" on Sunday, August 26 while a half-hour "FOX Fall Preview Special" has been booked for Sunday, September 2 at 7:00/6:00c.

Said specials join the previously announced NFL preseason games on Thursday, August 9, Friday, August 17 and Thursday, August 23; the Emmy Awards on September 16; and various movies on Friday, August 3, Friday, August 10, Friday, August 24, Friday, August 31 and Friday, September 7.

Still up in the air then are FOX's Wednesday plans. Currently, back-to-back repeats of "'Til Death" and "Bones" are slated for the night starting August 22 however it seems more likely "Lyrics" will continue to run in the 9:00/8:00c slot until the fall.

In any case, as always, future schedules are subject to change.
