By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

MANIFEST (Netflix) - Matt Long, who plays Zeke Landon, will return for the show's revived fourth and final season. "I will be back for some of it, and we are just trying to work out the maximum amount that we can," he told the publication. "I love the characters so much, but as you know, the show was canceled. The other show is a pilot [NBC's "Getaway"]. We don't know what's happening with it yet. It's also a really awesome project. So, we're just trying to work out schedules and everybody wants the best thing for everyone. So fingers crossed that it all works out for the best." (Variety.com, 9/12)
MONARCH (FOX) - Josh Sasse is the latest to board the county music dynasty drama as Luke Roman, "the smart, charming but insecure son of country music legends Dottie and Albie Roman, as well as the CEO of the family's business, Monarch Entertainment. Luke is close to his sisters Nicky and Gigi (Beth Ditto), and is the apple of his mother's eye, but he has a troubled relationship with his father, whose approval he can never get, no matter how hard he tries." (Deadline.com)
SHE-RA LIVE-ACTION SERIES (Amazon, New!) - The streamer is in early development on a live-action incarnation of the franchise. "She-Ra and the Princesses of Power," the latest animated take, wrapped its run last year on Netflix. It's understood the Amazon project, also from DreamWorks Animation, will be "a new, standalone story and will not be connected to the animated show." No auspices were given. (Variety.com)
SUPER PUMPED (Showtime) - Elisabeth Shue has signed onto the Joseph Gordon-Levitt-led anthology series as Bonnie Kalanick, "Travis' mother, the one person he can always count on for wisdom and truth." (Deadline.com)
TED LASSO (Apple TV+) - Warner Bros. Television is set to give sizable pay increases to the cast and creative team as part of contract renegotiations for its third season. Jason Sudeikis, Brendan Hunt, Brett Goldstein, Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple and Bill Lawrence were among the mentioned on track for a bump. (THR.com)
UNTITLED ALASKA PROJECT (ABC, New!) - Hilary Swank is attached to star in a potential drama at the Alphabet about "a star journalist who moves to Alaska for a fresh start after a career-killing misstep, and finds redemption personally and professionally joining a daily metro newspaper in Anchorage." (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED JULIE DURK PROJECT (Freeform, New!) - Julie Durk has scored a pilot order from the cable channel for a new drama described as "a Hitchcockian contemporary thriller that follows a young woman as she is thrust into a world of old money and deadly secrets." Andrea Londo, Warren Christie, Kelly Bishop, Amy Acker, Jon Ecker, Lex Lumpkin, Henry Joseph Samiri and Aliyah Royale will star in the project, with Jeffrey Reiner directing and Ryan Seacrest, Nina Wass and Andrea Shay of Ryan Seacrest Productions also executive producing for ABC Signature. Londo plays Elena, "who at first seems like just a wholesome, friendly young woman trying to get a job as the live-in nanny to a wealthy widower and his young son at the Greybourne"; with Christie as Matthew, "a self-made architect dealing with tremendous sorrow over his wife's death"; Bishop as Mrs. Ivey, "an imperious woman used to ruling the roost and getting her way through a potent combination of wealth, power and sheer force of will"; Acker as Tory, "a woman who always has resented her younger, effortlessly graceful late sister"; Ecker as Scottie, "Elena's boyfriend, sexy, seemingly a bit unpolished but not to be underestimated as he's very sharp and always playing the long game"; Lumpkin as Elliott, "a teenager who lives in The Greybourne with his wealthy, accomplished parents"; Samiri as Jasper, "Matthew's son, a shy, sad child who's still reeling from the recent death of his mother"; and Royale as Ginny, "a cool, stylish young woman with dyed magenta hair who works alongside Elena as a nanny at The Greybourne." (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED PENGUIN PROJECT (HBO Max, New!) - Lauren LeFranc is spearheading another TV spin-off of Matt Reeves's upcoming film "The Batman" described as "a 'Scarface-like' series about the rise of the Penguin character," played by Colin Farrell. Dylan Clark and Matt Reeves are also executive producing the project, which is in the early stages of development, for 6th and Idaho, Dylan Clark Productions, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Television. Farrell is expected to star in the series. (Deadline.com)
VICTORIES GREATER THAN DEATH (Amazon, New!) - Charlie Jane Anders's novel is being developed for TV by Amazon Studios and Michael B. Jordan's Outlier Society. It is detailed as follows: "High school can be rough. It's hard to fit in, yet impossible to be invisible, and when everyone is desperately trying to figure out who they are and where they are going in life it doesn't help Tina that she's hiding a deep secret. She's the keeper of an interplanetary beacon that will activate someday soon, calling her home as the clone of an alien charged with saving the galaxy. But, for as much as she feels destined to fulfill her mission, she first has to grapple with the complications with the humans in her life. As Tina prepares to take on her journey with a group of teenage girls, they must grapple with learning to trust themselves and each other in this coming-of-age adventure." No writer is currently attached. Anders, Jordan, Elizabeth Raposo, Dan Halstead and Nate Miller are executive producing. (Deadline.com)
