CBS Places Second in Viewers in an Atypical Week That Included CBS Rebroadcasts and Four World Series Games

"The Mentalist" Ties "Private Practice" in Adults 18-49 for the First Time This Season

CBS placed second in viewers in an atypical week that included rebroadcasts of many of the Network's comedies and dramas and four World Series games, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending Nov. 1, week six of the 2009-2010 television season.

A rebroadcast of NCIS, television's number one program, was the week's top scripted program. THE MENTALIST tied "Private Practice" in adults 18-49 for the first time this season and posted its largest margin of victory against the medical drama with a first run episode in viewers (+6.36m) and adults 25-54 (+1.1 rtg pts).

For the week in viewers: CBS (9.84m), FOX (14.68m), ABC (9.45m) and NBC (5.59m). Season-to-date, CBS is first in viewers (12.08m), ahead of ABC (10.02m), FOX (9.98m) and NBC (7.54m).

For the week in key demographics, CBS averaged a 3.1/08 in adults 25-54 and 2.3/06 in adults 18-49. Season-to-date, CBS is first in adults 25-54 (4.2/10) and second in adults 18-49 (3.2/09).

For the week in households: CBS (6.2/10), FOX (8.8/14), ABC (6.0/10) and NBC (3.5/06). Season-to-date, CBS is first (7.5/12), ahead of ABC (6.4/10), FOX (6.0/10) and NBC (4.7/08).

-- CBS was first Tuesday in households (8.0/13), viewers (12.38m), second in adults 25-54 (3.5/08, -0.1 behind NBC).

? NCIS (R) won its time slot in households (10.4/16), viewers (16.70m), adults 25-54 (4.6/11) for the sixth consecutive week and was second in adults 18-49 (3.3/09, -0.1 behind NBC).

? THE GOOD WIFE (R) was first in households (6.4/11) and viewers (9.34m) for the sixth consecutive week, tied for first in adults 25-54 (2.6/07, with ABC) and tied for second in adults 18-49 (1.8/05, with NBC).

? SURVIVOR: SAMOA was second behind FOX's World Series Game #2 in households (6.9/11), viewers (12.19m), adults 25-54 (4.6/11) and adults 18-49 (3.7/10).

? CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION was second in households (9.2/14) and viewers (15.24m).

? THE MENTALIST was second in households (9.7/16), viewers (15.53m), adults 25-54 (4.9/12) and tied for second in adults 18-49 (3.6/09, with ABC). THE MENTALIST tied "Private Practice" with both airing first run episodes for the first time ever and posted its largest margin of victory this season with first run episodes in households (+3.6 rtg pts), viewers (+6.36m) and adults 25-54 (+1.1 rtg pts).

-- Friday, CBS was first in households (5.0/09), viewers (8.00m), adults 25-54 (2.7/08) and adults 18-49 (1.9/06). For the night, CBS was first in these measures for five of the last six Fridays.

? GHOST WHISPERER was first in households (5.2/09), viewers (8.29m), adults 25-54 (2.9/09) and adults 18-49 (2.0/07). GHOST WHISPERER won its time slot every week this season in households, viewers and adults 25-54, five times in six weeks in adults 18-49.

? MEDIUM was first in adults 25-54 (2.8/08), adults 18-49 (1.9/06), second in both households (4.9/09) and viewers (7.82m). MEDIUM won its time slot in adults 25-54 and adults 18-49 for the fifth time in six weeks.

? NUMB3RS was first in viewers (7.88m), adults 25-54 (2.5/07), tied for first in households (5.0/09, with ABC) and adults 18-49 (1.7/06, with ABC). NUMB3RS was first in its time slot in households and viewers five times in six weeks this season, four times in the last five weeks in adults 25-54 and three times in the last four weeks in adults 18-49.

? THE AMAZING RACE 15 was second in households (6.5/10), viewers (11.22m), adults 25-54 (4.2/09) and tied for second in adults 18-49 (3.3/08, with ABC). This matched last week's season high viewer delivery.
