Mike is often the odd man out in a home dominated by his loving wife, Vanessa, and their three daughters -- Kristin, a 24-year-old single mom who recently moved out of her parents' home with her 6-year-old son, Boyd; the outspoken Mandy, 19, who has taken a romantic interest in Kyle, Kristin's former boyfriend; and 15-year-old Eve, who has her father's blessing to be in Junior ROTC. Assorted friends and neighbors also seem to be interested in expressing their strong points of view to Mike on a variety of issues, ranging from politics, holiday celebration etiquette and the environment to how his grandson should be raised.
