The Futon's Upfront Notes: Fox
By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- A round-up of the various developments from FOX's upfront presentation that may have gotten lost in the shuffle:

-- FOX has canceled "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles." "'Terminator' has completed its run," FOX entertainment chief Kevin Reilly told reporters in a conference call this morning. "And I think it had a nice little run. It was a good show. It was not [a question of keeping either 'Dollhouse' or 'Terminator']. We did see it tailing off a bit. It had a nice creative core, but ultimately we made the bet on 'Dollhouse' for the night. We had some other shows we thought would make a better profile for the night. So that's it for 'Terminator.'" Only two other scripted shows were canceled or ended this season on the network: "Do Not Disturb" and "Prison Break."

-- The network will not order any additional episodes of "Hole in the Wall," "Osbournes: Reloaded," "Sit Down, Shut Up" and - for now - "Secret Millionaire." Said news was confirmed to the site following the aforementioned call. While unaired episodes of the former trio may turn up later this year, no more will be produced. In the case of "Millionaire," the network says it was treated as a limited series event with no immediate plans for a sequel.

-- While not on the schedule, FOX also has original episodes left of "King of the Hill," additional cycles of "Kitchen Nightmares" and a new reality series, "Someone's Gotta Go." The latter may turn up in late summer or be held until next season.

-- FOX will roll out "Alive Air" next season, an initiative designed to keep viewers tuned in during commercial breaks. Current examples include the "Animation Domination" round table discussions used as interstitials during the network's Sunday shows while future endeavors include "Gordon Ramsay's Cookalong Live" in November, in which viewers - you guessed it - prepare a meal with Ramsay over the course of an evening's programming; and "Family Guy Live!" on Sunday, November 8, where clips from Seth MacFarlane's stage show will be wrapped around that night's episodes of "The Cleveland Show," "Family Guy" and "American Dad." Also on tap in November is an "interactive scavenger hunt" featuring "The Simpsons," however no specifics were given.

-- World Series games will now start at 8:00/7:00c with pre-game shows beginning at 7:30/6:30c. In addition, due to the World Baseball Classic earlier this year, the MLB finale is currently set for the final week of October and will bleed into November:

Game 1: Wednesday, October 28
Game 2: Thursday, October 29
Game 3: Saturday, October 31
Game 4: Sunday, November 1
Game 5 (if necessary): Monday, November 2
Game 6 (if necessary): Wednesday, November 4
Game 7 (if necessary): Thursday, November 5
