NEW YORK, July 1, 2008 -- The 1970s classic "The Gong Show" is back and who better to host the return of the legendary talent showcase series than boundary-pushing comedy all-star Dave Attell? Viewers won't be able to contain their laughter (and their astonishment) when "The Gong Show with Dave Attell" premieres Thursday, July 17 at 10:00 p.m. on COMEDY CENTRAL.

Executive Produced by Doug Robinson of Happy Madison Productions and Andrew Golder ("Identity" and "Win Ben Stein's Money") in association with Sony Pictures Television, "The Gong Show with Dave Attell" will showcase seven to ten off-beat and diverse acts judged by a revolving panel of three celebrity judges. At the end of each show, the act with the highest score will be crowned the winner! The premiere episode features celebrity judges Brian Posehn, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog and Steve Schirripa.

Judges featured throughout the season include Adam Carolla, Kate Walsh, Andy Dick, Ron White, Dave Navarro, Greg Giraldo, Jim Norton and JB Smoove.

Dave Attell is a COMEDY CENTRAL alum, having hosted four seasons of the hit series, "Insomniac with Dave Attell," where he traveled city-to-city in search of late-night fun. Attell was most recently seen in his HBO one-hour stand-up special, "Captain Miserable," that aired in December 2007. Named one of the "25 Funniest People in America" by Entertainment Weekly, Attell shot several hour-long "Insomniac" specials overseas and hosted a two-hour special for COMEDY CENTRAL featuring Sean Rouse, Greg Giraldo and Dane Cook in Las Vegas. He also appeared in his own half-hour stand-up special on COMEDY CENTRAL, "COMEDY CENTRAL Presents: Dave Attell," and has made numerous appearances on "The Late Show with David Letterman," "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," "Late Night with Conan O'Brien," "The Howard Stern Show" and "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart," among others.

"The Gong Show with Dave Attell" is executive produced by Andrew Golder, Doug Robinson (Happy Madison) and Sony Pictures Television. Zoe Friedman is the executive in charge of production for COMEDY CENTRAL.
