By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

MIDDLE AGE RAGE (ABC/ABC Studios; W: Cheryl Holliday; D: Julie Anne Robinson) - The Alphabet and ABC Studios have extended the options on the cast of the comedy pilot, about a wife/mother/Oprah fan (Annie Mumolo) who is fed up with feeling invisible and begins to speak up and demand the respect she feels she's earned. Said development - which presumably covers co-stars Kellee Stewart, Melanie Leishman, Skyler Gisondo, Will Sasso and Wyatt Oleff - will keep the project alive for a potential midseason order. (Deadline.com)

OPEN (HBO/Fox 21; W: Lauren Gussis & Ryan Murphy; D: TBA) - Scott Speedman ("Last Resort") has joined the cast of the drama pilot, which is billed as "a modern, provocative exploration of human sexuality and relationships." He'll play Jonathan, "a handsome sports marketing executive," in the hour, which also stars Wes Bentley. (Deadline.com)
