AMERICAN MONSTER (ABC, New!) - Kristen Schaal and Rich Blomquist have sold a potential comedy to the Alphabet about "a small-town misfit who becomes an unlikely celebrity when she goes on trial for the murder of the century." Schaal will also star in the project, which is set up at the 20th Century Fox Television-based Lord Miller with the company's Phil Lord, Chris Miller and Seth Cohen likewise executive producing. (Deadline.com)

BLACKOUT (Lifetime, New!) - Elle Triedman ("Revenge") has booked a potential drama at the cable channel about "a woman whose failed career leads her to return home after 10 years to the small blue collar town run by her estranged siblings. She tries to make amends with her family and her past but the murder of a teenage girl forces her to face her own demons." She'll write and executive produce alongside UnbeliEVAble Entertainment's Eva Longoria and Ben Spector. (Deadline.com)

IZOMBIE (The CW, New!) - Rob Thomas and Diane Ruggiero ("Veronica Mars") are developing a small screen take on Chris Roberson and Michael Allred's DC Comics title of the same name, about "a med student-turned-zombie who takes a job in the coroner's office to gain access to the brains she must reluctantly eat to maintain her humanity. But with each brain she consumes, she inherits the corpse's memories, and with the help of her medical examiner boss and a police detective, she solves homicide cases in order to quiet the disturbing voices in her head." Said effort comes from Warner Bros. Television with Danielle Stokdyk and Dan Etheridge also executive producing for Rob Thomas Productions. (Deadline.com)

UNREAL (Lifetime; W: Marti Noxon & Sarah Gertrude Shapiro; D: Roger Kumble) - Ashley Scott ("Jericho") is the latest addition to the drama pilot, about a young staffer (Shiri Appleby) on a hit competition dating series whose lone job is to manipulate the relationships with (and among) the contestants in order to get the vital dramatic and outrageous footage producers demand. She'll play Mary, "a 36-year-old single mom with a 4-year-old daughter, who is a type-A financial advisor who has been unlucky in love and a hopeful contestant." Also starring are Breeda Wool, Bryan Batt, Francia Raisa, Freddie Stroma, Johanna Braddy, Josh Kelly, Megyn Price and Nathalie Kelley. (THR.com)

UNTITLED ANNE HECHE/COLETTE BURSON PROJECT (NBC, New!) - "Hung" alums Colette Burson and Anne Heche are set to re-team for another single-camera comedy about "Beauty Department Sales Manager Poppy Blake, 43, who questions everything about love and relationships. With the help of her hilariously opinionated sister Chelsea, her romantically deprived co-workers, and a vast array of department store clients, Poppy turns a comic yet anthropological eye on what love and sex really mean for women." They'll co-write the half-hour, which may potentially star Heche. Universal Television is producing. (Deadline.com)

UNTITLED ERIK RIVERA PROJECT (NBC, New!) - The Peacock is developing a new comedy based on his life and standup of comedian Erik Rivera. Peter Murrieta ("Welcome to the Family") is penning the project and will executive produce alongside UnbeliEVAble Entertainment's Eva Longoria and Ben Spector. No other details were given. (Deadline.com)

UNTITLED MOLLY SHANNON PROJECT (FOX, New!) - Actress Molly Shannon and writer Bruce McCulloch are developing a single-camera comedy at the network about Fiona (Shannon) "who, at the top of her professional career, clashes with her stay-at-home pregnant daughter." 20th Century Fox Television is behind the half-hour with 3 Arts Entertainment's David Miner and Greg Walter executive producing alongside McCulloch. Shannon then will receive a producing credit. (Deadline.com)
