By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE, THE (Amazon) - Veteran character actor Stephen Root has landed the title role on the series: "the mysterious figure tied to the Resistance movement who collects the enigmatic films that seem to depict alternate versions of reality - the ones the Japanese and Nazis want to find and destroy." (Deadline.com)
MOM (CBS) - David James Elliott and Wendie Malick are both bound for upcoming episodes of the comedy. Malick will play "Adam's (William Fichtner) ex-wife, whose friendly relationship with him confounds Bonnie (Allison Janney)"; while Elliott will play Joe, "a (sober) restaurateur who Bonnie meets at a food festival...and finds herself drawn to." (TVInsider.com)
ODD COUPLE, THE (CBS) - The Eye has opted not to order any additional episodes for the show's third season. The current 13-episode run will presumably wrap in January with the series remaining under consideration for a fourth season. (Deadline.com)
RELLIK (Cinemax, New!) - The pay channel has acquired the broadcast rights to BBC One's six-episode limited series. Harry and Jack Williams ("The Missing") are behind the project, billed as "a serial killer story told backward" (the title is "Killer" spelled backward) in which "while the killer will be revealed at the beginning, the thriller drama is said to offer a surprising take as it traces back the killer's story." Sam Miller is directing while Willow Grylls, Charlie Pattinson, Elaine Pyke and Stephen Wright are also among the executive producers for Two Brothers Pictures and New Pictures. (Deadline.com)
TEN DAYS IN THE VALLEY (ABC) - Erika Christensen, Felix Solis and Kick Gurry have all been cast in the Kyra Sedgwick-led series, about Jane Sadler, an overworked television producer and single mother in the middle of a fractious separation. When her young daughter goes missing in the middle of the night, Jane's world - and her controversial police series - implodes. Christensen will play Ali, "Jane's younger, bossier sister, a capable and pragmatic psychologist who is currently undergoing fertility treatments with her journalist husband, Tom." Solis then will portray David Gomez, "who presides over the important LAPD Detective Bureau with the decisiveness and confidence of an oligarch"; with Gurry as Pete, "a charismatic, unpredictable music producer who is Jane's ex and the father of her 8-year-old daughter, Lake." (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED MIKE DANIELS PROJECT (NBC, New!) - Mike Daniels ("Sons of Anarchy") is developing a new drama at the Peacock which "explores the complex personal life of a former cop and mother who returns to the force, in part, to solve the murder of her detective husband." Universal Television is behind the hour, home to Daniels's overall deal. (Deadline.com)
