ANIMAL KINGDOM (TNT) - Alex Meraz (Suicide Squad) is slated to recur on the show's sophomore run as Javi Cano, "a dangerous man in his early 30s who is the son of one of the men Smurf used to pull jobs with before her own sons came of age." (Deadline.com)
BIRTHRIGHT (FOX, New!) - Jax Media has sold a pilot presentation to the network for a single-camera comedy about "a child born in South Korea before being adopted by white, Midwestern evangelical parents. When it comes apparent to all involved that he's gay, the young fish out of water goes in search of his birth mother in the hope they can reconnect." Comedian Joel Kim Booster wrote, co-executive produced and starred in the project with Tony Hernandez and Lilly Burns serving as executive producers. 20th Century Fox Television will produce. GREENLEAF (OWN) - Rick Fox (Dope) has scored an arc on the show's second season as Darius Fox, "a handsome reporter covering the latest round of scandals at Calvary Fellowship World Ministries, with a liking to sandbagging high church officials in the parking lot, hoping to pressure them into blurting out something memorable." HOMELAND (Showtime) - Jake Weber has been cast in the show's sixth season as Brett O'Keefe, described as "an aggressive and charming anarchist, though not one with any gig in the fictional administration." (THR.com)
LIBBY & MALCOLM (ABC) - The Alphabet has formally ordered the Felicity Huffman/Courtney B. Vance-led comedy to pilot, about "two polar opposite political pundits - Libby (Huffman) and Malcolm (Vance) - who fall in love despite all odds and form an insta-family as well as a work partnership." QUANTICO (ABC) - Eliza Coupe will reprise her role as Hannah Wyland in the back half of the show's sophomore run. (TVLine.com)
THIS IS US (NBC) - Adam Bartley ("Longmire") will recur on the series as Duke, "who works at a local horse stable and support Kate (Chrissy Metz) during a difficult time." (Deadline.com)
TONY TAKE THE WHEEL (CBS, New!) - Cedric the Entertainer is set to star in a new multi-camera comedy at the Eye about "the relationship between two very different brothers whose family dynamic is challenged when one brother (Cedric) hires his teenage nephew to work at his custom car shop." Spike Feresten will pen the pilot script from a story conceived with Cedric with A Bird and a Bear Entertainment's Eric Rhone, Hangar 56's John Stevens and the Tannenbaum Co.'s Eric and Kim Tannenbaum likewise executive producing for CBS Television Studios. UNTITLED WHOOPI GOLDBERG PROJECT (Bravo, New!) - Whoopi Goldberg is developing a new drama at the cable channel about "a Harlem crime boss (a role eyed by Goldberg) who is reunited with her oldest son - whom she thought was dead - after he returns to New York City to run for mayor. Being able to pass as white, he faked his death as a teenager and left New York in order to get a new start on life." Amitabh Klemm is penning the script for Universal Cable Productions with Goldberg, One Ho Productions' Tom Leonardis and 44 Blue Productions' Stephanie Drackovitch also executive producing.
