EMPIRE (FOX) - Ilene Chaiken has inked a new multi-year overall deal with 20th Century Fox Television where she'll continue as showrunner of the series as well as develop new projects for the studio. (Deadline.com)
HEATHERS (Paramount) - Selma Blair will recur on the upcoming film-turned-TV series as Jade, "described as a stripper menthol smoker who is rough around the edges, but with a bit of glamour to her. She's the gold-digging stepmother to Heather Duke (Brendan Scannell), who is simply biding her time until her 82-year-old husband kicks the bucket." (Deadline.com)
HUE 1968 (FX, New!) - Mark Bowden's bestselling book, subtitled "A Turning Point of the American War in Vietnam," is being developed as an eight-to-10 hour limited series by the cable channel. Michael Mann's Forward Pass and Michael De Luca's De Luca Productions are behind the FX Productions-based project with Mann expected to direct multiple episodes, including the opener. It's understood "the series adaptation will humanize the conflict by telling the story through the eyes of different characters on both sides over a 26-day period." (Deadline.com)
OLIVE FOREVER (USA) - Sarah Yarkin and Adam DiMarco have both been cast in the drama pilot as Hayley, "Olive's new best friend, a former home-schooler experiencing the terrors of public school for the first time"; and Tom Dern, "a kind- hearted art student whom Olive takes an immediate romantic interest in." ONCE UPON A TIME (ABC) - Dania Ramirez and Gabrielle Anwar have both joined the cast of the upcoming seventh season while Mekia Cox, Rose Reynolds and Adelaide Kane have all landed recurring roles. Details about their characters however were not released. (Deadline.com)
