NEW YORK, March 6, 2006 -- Carlos Mencia will take on any topic without hesitation and his brutal honesty returns in full force for the second season of "Mind of Mencia," premiering Wednesday, March 22 at 10:30 p.m. on COMEDY CENTRAL. The second season, which is executive produced by Mencia and Emmy Award-winning producer Robert Morton (�Late Show with David Letterman�), will consist of 16 episodes.
Shot in the studio and on location, �Mind of Mencia� is based on Mencia�s unique point of view of the world including such topics as ethnic stereotypes, race relations, immigration, war, patriotism, capitalism and family and is presented with brutal honesty and unrelenting provocation. The show includes Mencia�s comments on pop culture and current events, man-on-the-street interviews, commercial parodies, as well as interaction with the studio audience.
Mencia�s one-hour stand-up special, �Carlos Mencia: No Strings Attached� premieres on COMEDY CENTRAL on Sunday, March 12 at 10:00 p.m. and COMEDY CENTRAL Home Entertainment will release "Mind of Mencia Uncensored Season 1" on DVD on March 21. Extras on the DVD include bonus material such as deleted scenes, outtakes, and never-before-seen backstage "diary" footage.
Known for his unflinching and hilarious opinions, Mencia is able to connect with a diverse audience by pointing out society's hypocrisy which has made him one of the most successful comedians in the country. He has released numerous live recorded albums including "Take A Joke America," by Warner Bros Records and "America Rules" which features an hour of material that deals with the events of September 11. Last year, StudioWorks Entertainment released his first retail DVD, "Carlos Mencia: Not for the Easily Offended.�
Mencia's film credits include "Three Amigos Live In Concert" and the independent films "Outta' Time" and "29 Palms." Since its premiere on July 6, 2005, "Mind of Mencia" has proven to be a tremendous success for COMEDY CENTRAL, averaging 1.4 million total viewers during the first season. In addition, the no-holds-barred series won its timeslot among men 18-24 and ranked second overall with men 18-49 and men 18-34.
