BORED TO DEATH (HBO) - Emmy winner Alan Taylor ("The Sopranos") has signed on to direct the pilot, which stars Jason Schwartzman as a struggling thirtysomething writer with a drinking problem in Brooklyn who, following a painful breakup with his girlfriend, decides to emulate his heroes from the novels of Raymond Chandler and Dashiell Hammett. Production on the pilot is set to begin next month with Taylor working from a script by creator Jonathan Ames. Taylor recently wrapped production on fellow HBO pilot "1%" and is nominated for another Emmy this year for his work on the pilot for AMC's "Mad Men."
IN PLAIN SIGHT (USA) - Cristian de la Fuente has been upped to series regular for the show's second season. He'll continue on as Rafael Ramirez, the boyfriend of U.S. Marshal Mary Shannon (Mary McCormack). USA is targeting the new season for next summer.
LOST (ABC) - As expected, co-star Matthew Fox has inked a new deal with ABC Studios to continue his services on the veteran drama for the remainder of its run. It's understood that he'll see his per episode fee bumped from $150,000 to $225,000. The news marks the second significant raise for Fox, who along with the rest of the cast, collectively saw their salaries rise to about $80,000 an episode in January of 2006 with Fox himself earning a one-time bonus of at least $250,000. The rest of the ensemble is also in the process of renegotiating their deals. Production on the show's fifth season is set to kick off on Monday.
MOONLIGHT (CBS) - Co-star Alex O'Loughlin has inked a talent holding deal with the network, sister studio CBS Paramount Television and ABC Studios. The one-year pact calls for the group to find a new series project for the actor, to be developed by "Grey's Anatomy" executive producer Mark Gordon. O'Loughlin will also be able to pitch theatrical projects to fellow corporate sibling CBS Films.
