Thursday's Broadcast Ratings: NBC Tops Charts with "Thursday Night Football"

Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (12/1/16):

NBC (15.278 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 4.4, #1) kicked off December on top with new episodes of "Thursday Night Football Pre-Game" (11.148 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.9, #3) and "Thursday Night Football" (16.104 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 4.7, #1).

CBS (7.388 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.4, #2) then was a distant second with its mix of "The Big Bang Theory" (14.386 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 3.1, #2), "The Great Indoors" (7.086 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.4, #5), "Mom" (6.979 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.3, #6), "Life in Pieces" (6.302 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.2, #7) and "Pure Genius" (4.787 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.8, #11).

Next up was ABC (5.198 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #3) with a repeat "A Charlie Brown Christmas" (6.379 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.5, #4) followed by the return of "The Great Holiday Baking Show" (4.841 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T8) and a second "The Great Holiday Baking Show" (4.376 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.0, #10).

Meanwhile, The CW (2.594 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.9, #4) got another crossover boost from "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" (3.330 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T8) plus a new "Supernatural" (1.859 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T12).

And finally, the fall finale of "Rosewood" (3.133 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T12) and a new "Pitch" (2.371 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T12) closed out the night on FOX (2.751 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #5).

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 1.1, delayed by an NFL overrun; "Late Show," 0.4/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/2 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.1/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," a 1.4 rating in metered-market households, with an encore delayed by an NFL overrun; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.0/4. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.6 in 18-49, with an encore delayed by an NFL overrun; "Late Late Show," 0.3/2.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly," with an encore delayed by an NFL overrun, averaged a 0.9 rating in metered-market households and a 0.4 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 10 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (12/3/15):

CBS (12.495 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.3, #T1) was the most-watched network on Thursday with special editions of "Thursday Night Football Pre-Game" (10.300 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.4, #3) and "Thursday Night Football" (12.934 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.5, #1).

NBC (11.136 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 3.3, #T1) however shared in the demo honors with its presentation of "The Wiz Live!" (12.495 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 3.3, #2).

Next up was ABC (5.202 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.9, #3) with repeats of "Toy Story That Time Forgot" (4.026 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T5) and "Shrek the Halls" (4.175 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.0, #4) plus a new "CMA Country Christmas" (5.753 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T5).

Meanwhile, FOX (3.206 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.6, #4) offered up repeats of "Bones" (3.454 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T8) and a second "Bones" (2.959 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.6, #7).

And finally, new episodes of "The Vampire Diaries" (1.324 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T8) and "The Originals" (1.179 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T8) on The CW (1.251 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.5, #5) closed out the night.
