Monday's Broadcast Ratings: ABC, "The Bachelor" Open 2018 with Demo Victory

Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (1/1/18):

ABC (5.030 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.2, #1) kicked off the new year on top with the return of "The Bachelor" (5.448 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.5, #1) and a repeat "The Good Doctor" (4.193 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T7).

Second place then went to CBS (5.340 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T2) with repeats of "The Big Bang Theory" (6.592 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.1, #2), "Young Sheldon" (6.248 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.0, #3), another "Young Sheldon" (5.990 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T4), yet another "Young Sheldon" (6.034 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T4) and "SEAL Team" (3.588 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.5, #12).

Next up was NBC (4.200 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T2) with new episodes of "The Wall" (4.324 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.8, #6), "Better Late Than Never" (4.195 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T7) and a second "Better Late Than Never" (4.083 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T7).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.839 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #4) offered up the return of "Lucifer" (3.144 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T7) and "The Gifted" (2.535 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T7).

And finally, a repeat "Supergirl" (0.896 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T13) and a new "Valor" (0.792 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T13) on The CW (0.844 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5) rounded out the night.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.5/2 with an encore; "Late Show," 0.3/1 with an encore; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/2 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.0/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 0.8/3 in metered-market households with an encore; CBS's "Late Late Show," 0.9/3 with an encore. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.3/2 in 18-49 with an encore; "Late Late Show," 0.2/2 with an encore.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.5/2 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.2/1 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.

ABC (5.574 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.8, #1) staked its claim to the demo crown on Monday with the return of "The Bachelor" (6.562 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.1, #1) plus its themed-special "Jimmy Kimmel Live: Here for the Right Reasons" (3.599 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.1, #8).

NBC (4.800 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.3, #2) then was the silver draw with the season premiere of "The Celebrity Apprentice" (4.931 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T3) and a second preview of "The Wall" (4.538 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T5).

Next up was CBS (6.570 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.2, #3) with originals from "Kevin Can Wait" (7.333 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.4, #2), "Man with a Plan" (6.529 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T5), "2 Broke Girls" (5.844 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T3), "The Odd Couple" (5.304 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.0, #9) and "Scorpion" (7.206 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T5).
