Thursday's Broadcast Ratings: "Big Bang Theory" Sparks CBS to Victory

Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (2/21/19):

CBS (8.270 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.3, #1) was the network to beat on Thursday with its original lineup of "The Big Bang Theory" (13.296 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.3, #1), "Young Sheldon" (11.293 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.8, #2), "Mom" (8.553 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.3, #4), "Fam" (5.675 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T7) and "SWAT" (5.401 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T9).

ABC (4.900 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.1, #2) then was the number two draw with its trio of "Grey's Anatomy" (6.857 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.7, #3), "A Million Little Things" (5.268 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T5) and "How to Get Away with Murder" (2.575 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.5, #14).

Next up was NBC (3.601 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.9, #3) with its mix of "The Titan Games" (4.276 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T5), "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" (2.420 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T9), "Will & Grace" (2.680 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T11) and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (3.977 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T7).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.612 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #4) offered up fresh installments of "Gotham" (2.186 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.6, #13) and "The Orville" (3.038 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T11).

And finally, a repeat "Charmed" (0.538 million viewers, #16; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T15) and a new "Legacies" (0.707 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T15) rounded out the night on The CW (0.622 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5).

· In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 1.7/5; "Late Show with Stephen Colbert," 2.9/8; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.4/4 with an encore.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.4/3; "Late Show," 0.6/4; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.4/3 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.0/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.1/4 in metered-market households; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.3/5. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.3/3 in 18-49; "Late Late Show," 0.3/2.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.6/3 in metered-market households and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 12 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (2/22/18):

NBC (14.889 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.4, #1) entered the home stretch with its "2018 Winter Olympics" (14.889 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.4, #1) coverage, again winning primetime by a wide margin.

Second place then went to CBS (5.684 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.0, #2) with its repeat lineup of "The Big Bang Theory" (7.899 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.3, #2), "Young Sheldon" (7.013 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #3), another "The Big Bang Theory" (6.324 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.1, #4), "Mom" (4.920 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.9, #5) and "SWAT" (3.974 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.7, #7).

Next up was ABC (3.011 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.7, #3) with the finale to "The Bachelor Winter Games" (3.181 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.8, #6) followed by the reunion special "The Bachelor Winter Games: World Tells All" (2.673 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.6, #8).

Meanwhile, FOX (1.700 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.4, #4) again opted for repeats of "Gotham" (1.418 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.4, #10) and "9-1-1" (1.982 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.5, #9).

And finally, The CW (0.840 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5) likewise served up second runs of "Supernatural" (0.965 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.3, #11) and "Arrow" (0.714 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.2, #12).
