CHARLIE FOXTROT (ABC) - Todd Holland has been tapped to direct and executive produce the comedy pilot, about Charlie Taylor, a cautious, quiet dentist stationed at Fort Bragg, who, after his brother Joe is killed in action, must honor his promise to take care of Joe's teenage step-kids and fiancée, Angelina, a defiant troublemaker whose impulsive behavior forces Charlie to be the hero he never imagined he could be." CHI, THE (Showtime) - Tiffany Boone and Alex R. Hibbert have both signed onto the upcoming drama. Boone will play Jerrika, "Brandon's (Jason Mitchell) outspoken partner in life"; with Hibbert as Kevin, "who is street-smart and confident and focuses on the things important to a 13-year-old." Sierra McClain and Alex Henderson originated the roles in the previous pilot. (Deadline.com)
CHICAGO JUSTICE (NBC) - Tovah Feldshuh will reprise her "Law & Order" role of defense attorney Danielle Melnick on the upcoming series. She'll appear in the final hour of the March 1 three-way crossover with "Chicago Fire" and "Chicago P.D." (TVLine.com)
KILLER INSTINCT (CBS) - Marc Webb will likewise direct and executive produce the drama pilot, about a former CIA operative (Alan Cumming) who has since built a normal life as a gifted professor and writer but is pulled back into his old life when the NYPD needs his help to stop a serial killer on the loose. LAST SHIP, THE (TNT) - Jodie Turner-Smith's Azima Kandie has been promoted to series regular for the show's fifth season. (Deadline.com)
SUCCESSION (HBO) - The drama pilot - which follows the saga of a fictional, American global-media family that is not only rich and powerful but also powerfully dysfunctional - has been given a 10-episode series order from the pay channel. Writer Jesse Armstrong and director Adam McKay are behind the project, whose ensemble includes Brian Cox, Jeremy Strong and Kieran Culkin. (Deadline.com)
TOO OLD TO DIE YOUNG (Amazon, New!) - Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive) has reportedly scored a 10-episode straight-to-series order from the streaming service for a new drama which "explores the criminal underbelly of Los Angeles." Ed Brubaker is also on board to co-write the hour with Refn directing and both serving as executive producers. (Variety.com)
