ALLY MCBEAL (FOX) - A limited series revival of the Calista Flockhart-led series is in the early stages of development at producer 20th Television. Creator David E. Kelley is said to be involved in the project however a female showrunner is expected to take over the reins. No network is currently attached. (TVLine.com)
BO & CHEYENNE (NBC) - The network has passed on its proposed "Superstore" spin-off featuring Bo (Johnny Pemberton) and Cheyenne (Nichole Sakura). (@joeyjoe)
BOYS, THE (Amazon) - Katia Winter has signed onto the show's upcoming third season as Little Nina, "a Russian mob boss with penchant for sex toys whose death ranks among the comics' most shocking moments." (Deadline.com)
COURT OF THORNS AND ROSES, A (Hulu, New!) - Author Sarah J. Maas is developing a small screen take on her bestselling books at the streamer, which "blends epic romance, adventure, and political intrigue in a tale of a huntress who agrees to travel to a magical realm with a faerie lord in return for her family's safety, only to fall for him and ultimately fight for that love when an ancient curse threatens to destroy the faerie and human realms." Maas and Ronald D. Moore are penning the script to the project, which has a significant penalty attached. Maril Davis of Moore's Tall Ship Productions will also executive produce for 20th Television. GAME OF THRONES (HBO) - Author George R.R. Martin has signed a new overall deal, valued in the mid-eight figures, with the pay channel. The pact covers his current and future development, which include the proposed "Game of Thrones" spin-off series ("House of the Dragon," "10,000 Ships," "9 Voyages," "Flea Bottom," "Tales of Dunk and Egg," and an animated drama series) as well as the previously announced adaptations of Nnedi Okorafor's "Who Fears Death" and Roger Zelazny's "Roadmarks." HARRITY ELEMENTARY (ABC) - Tyler James Williams, Janelle James, Chris Perfetti, Lisa Ann Walter and Sheryl Lee Ralph are all bound for the Quinta Brunson-led comedy pilot. Brunson stars as Janine, "an optimistic new second-grade teacher with much to learn"; with Williams as Gregory, "a substitute-turned-permanent teacher at the school"; James as Ava, "the school's spirited new principal"; Perfetti as Jacob, "a new, painfully liberal history teacher"; Walter as Melissa, "the tough longtime teacher at the school"; and Ralph as Barbara, "a longtime and respected matriarch-like teacher." UNTITLED LAKERS PROJECT (HBO) - Sarah Ramos is the latest to score a role on the 1980s Los Angeles Lakers drama series as Cheryl Pistono, the girlfriend of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar: "In contrast to her boyfriend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's public persona, Ramos' Cheryl Pistono is warm and outgoing. She uses her emotional intelligence to encourage Kareem to be himself, and together they weather the highs and lows of a life in basketball." (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED ROY WOOD, JR. PROJECT (FOX, New!) - Roy Wood, Jr. is attached to star in a single-camera comedy at the network in which "working in service to a bunch of thankless Americans, members of the oft-forgotten National Guard use their time on domestic deployments to come up with new ways to pat themselves on the back, even though they don't deserve it. All while honoring commitments to their community, their families and their day jobs." Wood Jr. is also penning the project for FOX Entertainment with Amoeba's Denis Leary and Jack Leary also on board to executive produce. (Deadline.com)
WONDER YEARS, THE (ABC) - Don Cheadle has signed on to serve as narrator on the reboot series pilot, which "looks at how the Williamses, a Black middle-class family in Montgomery, AL, in the turbulent late 1960s made sure it was the Wonder Years for them too." He'll lend his voice to the adult Dean Williams, played by Elisha "EJ" Williams as a teen in the series. (Deadline.com)
