EVENTING SERIES PROJECT, THE (Amazon, New!) - Natalie Keller Reinert's horseback-riding-centric romance book series is being developed for TV by Amazon MGM Studios: "Against the riveting high stakes backdrop of equestrian competition and demanding athleticism, Reinert explores the passions which drive us, the love affairs which fuel us, and the partnerships - both animal and human - which help us thrive and find ourselves." Reinert and Lacy Lynch will executive produce. No writer was indicated. (Variety.com, 10/15)

FOR ALL MANKIND (Apple TV+) - The show's fifth season has cast three new series regulars: Sean Kaufman as Alex Poletov Baldwin; Ruby Cruz as Lily Dale; and Ines Asserson as A.J. Jarrett. They'll join the previously announced newcomers Mireille Enos and Costa Ronin. (Deadline.com, 10/16)
GOD OF WAR (Amazon) - Executive producers Rafe Judkins, Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus have departed the streamer's TV adaptation of the PlayStation franchise "after completing multiple scripts for the first season." The report indicates Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios "are apparently looking to move in a different creative direction." Adding, their "plan is to hire a whole new writers room for the series that remains an important asset for Prime." Cory Barlog, Yumi Yang, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, Yumi Land and Roy Lee will continue as non-writing executive producers. (Deadline.com, 10/17)
GREY'S ANATOMY (ABC) - Sophia Bush has signed on to recur on the series as Cass Beckman, "an amiable, fun and a little messy around the edges trauma surgeon at Seattle Presbyterian whose husband David Beckman is a cardiothoracic surgeon at Grey Sloan." (Deadline.com, 10/16)

(TVLine.com, 10/16)
INSTITUTE, THE (MGM+) - The Stephen King adaptation has added Brendan Beiser as Norbert Hollister, "owner of the town's only hotel"; Mary Walsh as Annie, "a colorful, paranoid local"; and Jordan Alexander as Kate, "a local journalist who knows there's more to the Institute than meets the eye." "We're so proud of Parish, and thankful for the creative talent involved and the performances they were able to bring to the screen, starting with the remarkable Giancarlo Esposito, Skeet Ulrich and the entire cast," AMC said in a statement. "We are unfortunately unable to proceed with a second season, but Season 1 will remain available on AMC+ to fans who want to relive this thrill-ride-of-a-series and those yet to discover it." (TVLine.com, 10/17)
POKER FACE (Peacock) - John Mulaney, Ego Nwodim and Sam Richardson are the latest bound for the show's second season in unspecified roles. (Deadline.com, 10/14)
SHIFTING GEARS (ABC) - Seann William Scott has joined the cast of the Tim Allen/Kat Dennings-led comedy series. He'll play Gabriel, "a family friend of Matt (Allen) and Riley (Dennings) who works in the shop with Matt." Said casting fills the void left by Froy Gutierrez's Nick - "Matt's son and Riley's game coder younger brother" - who will not be part of the series. The cast also includes Daryl "Chill" Mitchell as Stitch, Maxwell Simkins as Carter and Barrett Margolis as Georgia. (Deadline.com, 10/16)
SOCIOPATH'S GUIDE TO A SUCCESSFUL MARRIAGE, A (Hulu, New!) - Liz Tigelaar has sold a small screen take on M.K. Oliver's upcoming novel to the streamer: "A Sociopath's Guide to a Successful Marriage, which will be published in 2026, follows Lalla Rook - a reformed sociopath trying to make it as a regular mom. There's just the small problem of a dead body - which she may have stabbed repeatedly - in her living room. As Lalla navigates getting what she wants despite useless husbands, needy children, private school admissions and the trappings of suburban life, she's unencumbered by pesky things like shame, guilt and morals. But as mysteries unfurl and bodies pile up, Lalla's dark past threatens to rear its ugly head..." Best Day Ever's Stacey Silverman will also executive produce for 20th Television. (Deadline.com, 10/14)
