AMERICAN HOSTAGE (MGM+) - Giovanni Ribisi will star opposite Jon Hamm in the upcoming drama as Tony Kiritsis: "Unpredictable, temperamental, charming, Tony's honesty is disarming.  He's an unmarried, failed everyman at the end of his rope after his mortgage lender plans to foreclose on his property. Tony takes the head of the mortgage company, Dick Hall, hostage via a shotgun rigged to shoot Dick in the head if Tony is jostled or pulled. Tony informs the cops of his plan, but what he really wants is to tell his story, live, to the one person he trusts to hear him out, beloved radio news anchor Fred Heckman (Hamm) on local WIBC radio. As the public begins to hear the oddly charismatic Tony's side of the story, he begins to become a folk hero, despite his criminal actions, but are there skeletons in his closet that paint a darker picture?" (Deadline.com, 9/17)
BARB WIRE (New!) - The Pamela Anderson-led comic book-turned-feature film is being developed as a TV series by Anderson's new production company And-Her-Sons Productions. Anderson; her sons Brandon Thomas Lee and Dylan Jagger Lee; and Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg will executive produce the project for UCP and Dark Horse Entertainment: "Barb Wire, the drama series adaptation, follows nail-hard, tough Barbara Kopetski, aka Barb Wire, the baddest bounty hunter on the mean streets of Steel Harbor. Armed with her arsenal, motorcycle and an attitude that just won't quit, Barb is willing to right any wrong in Steel Harbor - if the price is right." (Deadline.com, 9/19)

(Deadline.com, 9/17)
HACKS (HBO Max) - Co-star Hannah Einbinder has confirmed confirmed the upcoming fifth season of the series will be its last. (Variety.com, 9/14)

They challenge each other to perform daring tasks." The company's Philipp Käßbohrer and Matthias Murman will presumably executive produce. (Deadline.com, 9/17)
LUX (Amazon, New!) - Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders are spearheading a TV take on Jennifer L. Armentrout's paranormal fantasy book series at Amazon MGM Studios: "An instant bestseller, the Lux book series follows 17-year-old Katy Swartz, who moves to a small town in West Virginia, only to discover that her neighbors and new friends, Daemon and Dee Black, are part of a powerful alien race hiding in plain sight. After Daemon saves Katy's life by healing her with his powers, an unbreakable bond forms between them, drawing Katy deeper into a world of supernatural threats, government conspiracies, and a forbidden love that could ignite a war capable of tearing their worlds apart." The former will play Nicky, "the manager of the Silverstrand Club, a gathering place for mobsters on the take. Motivated by a secret agenda of her own, Nicky and Angelo fall into a dangerous romance." And the latter is set as Linda Grant, "a mercurial, seasoned, and brilliantly tenacious FBI Agent who becomes a major antagonist for Angelo across Season 1. MUPPET SHOW, THE (Disney+, New!) - The streamer has commissioned a backdoor pilot for a potential reboot of the series, which "will feature Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo and the gang as they return to the Muppet Theatre to produce a variety show." Alex Timbers is directing from a script by Albertina Rizzo with both executive producing alongside special guest star Sabrina Carpenter, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Alex McAtee, David Lightbody, Leigh Slaughter, Michael Steinbach, Matt Vogel, and Eric Jacobson for 20th Television, The Muppets Studio and Point Grey Pictures.
