WEEK No. 18:

ABC took second place to Fox during the week of January 16, 2006, across each of the adult demographics: AD18-34 (3.3/9), AD18-49 (4.0/10) and AD25-54 (4.8/11). During the week, Fox�s 15-hour primetime schedule was significantly boosted by the return of �American Idol� to Tuesday and Wednesday, along with its carriage of the NFL NFC Championship Game on Sunday evening. ABC,

CBS and NBC each program 7 more hours than Fox during the week (22 hours vs. 15 hours). Among Adults 18-49, ABC (4.0/10) outdelivered third-place CBS by 11% (3.6/9) and fourth-place NBC by 21% (3.3/8).

� ABC�s primetime delivery was up from the same week last year (w/o 1/17/05) by 1.5 million viewers (11.5 million vs. 10.0 million) and by 5% in Adults 18-49 (4.0/10 vs. 3.8/9).

� Season to date (18 complete weeks), ABC remains the only network to build its Adult 18-49 audience over the same point a year ago (4.0/11 vs. 3.9/11). CBS, NBC and Fox are down, while UPN and WB are flat. ABC is also the only net to show an increase in Total Viewers, up 5% over its year-ago performance (11.0 million vs. 10.5 million).

Rankings: ABC aired 3 of the Top 10 TV programs for the week in Adults 18-49, including 2 of the Top 5: �Desperate Housewives� No. 4, �Grey�s Anatomy� � No. 5 and �Lost� � No. 7. In addition, �Extreme Makeover: Home Edition� (No. 12) and �Dancing with the Stars� (No. 17) both finished among the week�s the Top 20 shows in the key young adult sales demographic. The Network claimed 4 of the Top 10 most-watched programs during the week: �Desperate Housewives� � No. 5, �Grey�s Anatomy� � No. 7, �Lost� � No. 8 and �Dancing with the Stars� � No. 9. ABC�s �Desperate Housewives� and �Grey�s Anatomy� stood as the week�s Top 2 scripted programs among Adults 18-49, respectively. For the second week in a row, ABC News� �20/20� ranked as TV�s No. 1 newsmagazine among Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49.

Monday

Despite facing tougher competition on the night from NBC�s �Golden Globes� and Fox�s Monday season premiere of �24,� ABC�s delivery was up from the previous Monday among Total Viewers (7.8 million vs. 7.7 million) and Adults 18-49 (3.5/8 vs. 3.3/8).

�Wife Swap� (8:00-9:00 p.m.)

ABC�s �Wife Swap� earned second place in its hour to the �Golden Globes� among Women 18-49 (5.0/11) and Women 18-34 (3.9/10), beating Fox�s �24.�

� Coming off of season highs set the previous Monday, �Wife Swap� marked its second-strongest performance ever in the time period among Total Viewers (9.2 million) and Adults 18-49 (3.9/9).

�The Bachelor: Paris� (10:00 -11:00 p.m.)

Building on its lead-in and throughout its broadcast among viewers and young adults opposite the final hour of NBC�s �Golden Globes� telecast, ABC�s �The Bachelor: Paris� took second place in its time period among Adults 18-34 (3.6/10) and Women 18-34 (5.3/13).

� �The Bachelor: Paris� was up from its week-ago season premiere by 1.6 million viewers (7.8 million vs. 6.2 million), by 33% in Adults 18-49 (3.6/9 vs. 2.7/7) and by 38% in Adults 18-34 (3.6/10 vs. 2.6/7).

Tuesday

�Commander In Chief� (9:00-10:00 p.m.)

Airing against the record setting season premiere of Fox�s �American Idol,� ABC�s �Commander In Chief� built on its lead-in by 6.2 million viewers (10.8 million vs. 4.6 million) and by 60% among Adults 18-49 (2.4/5 vs. 1.5/3). In addition, �Commander In Chief� grew by 8% in Total Viewers (10.3 million to 11.1 million) and by 18% Adults 18-49 (2.2/5 to 2.6/5) from its first half-hour to its second half-hour.

� Despite the intense competition, �Commander In Chief� retained 95% of its Total Viewers and 86% of its Adults 18-49 delivery from its performance the prior week (11.4 million & 2.8/7 on 1/10/06).

Wednesday

ABC delivered a strong second-place finish to �Idol�-fueled Fox on Wednesday in Adults 18-49 (4.6/11), outpacing third-place CBS by 21% (3.8/9) and fourth-place NBC by 48% (3.1/7).

�Lost� (8:00-9:00 p.m.)

Against all-original competition from 8:00-9:00 p.m., ABC�s repeat telecast of �Lost� took second place to Fox�s Wednesday season premiere of �American Idol� among Adults 18-49 (2.2/6-tie).

�Lost� (9:00-10:01 p.m.)

Despite Fox�s enormous advantage from �Idol� coming into the time period (Fox = 34.0 million & 14.1/34 from 8:30-9:00 p.m.), ABC�s �Lost� surged from its lead-in and gained audience throughout its telecast to win the 9 o�clock hour. ABC�s �Lost� defeated second-place Fox�s series debut of �Skating with Celebrities� by 2% in Total Viewers (19.1 million vs. 18.7 million) and by a more substantial 11% in Adults 18-49 (8.0/18 vs. 7.2/17).

� �Lost� stood as the No. 1 scripted program on Wednesday in Total Viewers and Adults 18-49.

�Invasion� (10:01-11:00 p.m.)

During the 10 o�clock hour, ABC�s �Invasion� earned second place in Men 18-49 (3.1/9) and Men 25-54 (3.7/10), while ranking No. 1 among Men 18-34 (3.3/10).

Thursday

ABC took second place on Thursday night in Total Viewers (13.6 million) and Adults 18-49 (3.9/10), beating NBC on both Nielsen measures (NBC = 8.2 million & 3.8/10).

� Since �Dancing with the Stars� debuted on Thursday night, ABC�s delivery has improved by 8.2 million viewers (13.6 million vs. 5.4 million) and by 117% in Adults 18-49 (3.9/10 vs. 1.8/5) over its performance on the same nights last year.

�Dancing with the Stars� (8:00-9:30 p.m.)

Hitting season highs in its new time period, ABC�s �Dancing with the Stars� continued to deliver for ABC on Thursday night. The broad appealing unscripted program ranked No. 1 during its 90-minute time period among Total Viewers (19.0 million), Adults 18-34 (3.9/11-tied w/CBS), across the key women demos (W18-34 � 5.4/15, W18-49 � 7.3/18 and W25-54 � 8.9/20), as well as among Teens 12-17 (2.8/9) and Kids (2.7/10). The ABC series posted a strong second-place finish in the time period among Adults 18-49, beating NBC�s comedies (�Will & Grace�/�Four Kings�/�My Name is Earl�) in all three half-hours and by 30% on average (5.2/14 vs. 4.0/10). Of note competitively, CBS aired an original episode of �C.S.I.� at 9:00 p.m. In Total Viewers and Adults 18-49, �DWTS� posted ABC�s strongest Thursday night series telecast since March 22, 2001.

� Marking its best Thursday numbers yet, �Dancing with the Stars� was up nicely from the prior week, gaining 1.6 million viewers (19.0 million vs. 17.4 million) and 13% among Adults 18-49 (5.2/14 vs. 4.6/12). In fact it was the series� second-largest audience ever (behind only the first season finale) and its third-highest ever Adult 18-49 number (behind only the penultimate and season finale episodes during the summer).

� So far in its three broadcasts, �Dancing with the Stars� has improved the time period for ABC by 11.4 million viewers (17.9 million vs. 6.5 million) and by 118% in Adults 18-49 (4.8/13 vs. 2.2/6) from the Net�s season average with regular programming this season prior to its debut. On average, �Dancing with the Stars� represents ABC�s strongest Thursday night series in viewers and young adults in the last 6 seasons � since �Millionaire� during the 1999-00 season.

�Crumbs� (9:30-10:00 p.m.)

For the second week in a row, ABC�s �Crumbs� outdrew NBC�s �The Office� (+2.7 million - 11.4 million vs. 8.7 million). The ABC comedy also took second place in the half-hour among Women 18-49 (4.6/10-tie) and Women 25-54 (5.9/12). Continuing to improve the time period, �Crumbs� has boosted the half-hour for ABC by 6.1 million viewers (11.6 million vs. 5.5 million) and by 84% in Adults 18-49 (3.5/9 vs. 1.9/5) over its average with regular programming in the time period this season.

� Although it faced an original �C.S.I.� in the time period on its second telecast, �Crumbs� retained 97% of its week-ago season premiere Total Viewer audience (11.4 million vs. 11.8 million) and 94% of its Adult 18-49 audience (3.4/8 vs. 3.6/9). �Crumbs� was up from its series debut among Adults 18-34 (2.1/5 vs. 1.8/5), Women 18-34 (2.9/7 vs. 2.6/6) and Men 18-34 (1.2/3 vs. 1.0/3).

� On average, �Crumbs� qualifies as ABC�s most-watched Thursday scripted series in 11 seasons and its top-rated among Adults 18-49 in 6 seasons � since the 1994-95 and 1999-00 season, respectively.

Friday

ABC won Friday night by wide margins, beating second-place CBS by 2.0 million viewers (11.23million vs. 9.3 million) and by 23% in Adults 18-49 (3.2/10 vs. 2.6/8).

� Posting season high numbers on the night for the third straight week, ABC continued to deliver its most-watched non-sports results on the night in nearly 3 years and its top non-sports Adult 18-49 number in close to 2 years � since 1/31/03 and 2/6/04, respectively.

�Dancing with the Stars the Results� (8:00-9:00 p.m.)

Marking its best numbers yet, �Dancing with the Stars the Results� ranked a dominant No. 1 in its time period among Total Viewers (15.4 million) and across each of the key adult demographics: AD18-34 (2.7/10), AD18-49 (3.8/12) and AD25-54 (4.9/13). Journalist Giselle Fernandez was the most recent dancer to be eliminated from the contest. The ABC unscripted program stood as the No. 1 TV show on Friday in Total Viewers and Adults 18-49.

� Building its audience for the second week in a row with its best numbers to date, �Dancing with the Stars the Results� climbed by 1.7 million viewers (15.4 million vs. 13.7 million) and by 15% in Adults 18-49 (3.8/12 vs. 3.3/10) from the prior week.

� �Dancing with the Stars the Results� again produced ABC�s largest non-sports audience in the hour in almost 5 years and its strongest non-sports Adult 18-49 number nearly 3 years � since 1/26/01 and 1/31/03, respectively.

�In Justice� (9:00-10:00 p.m.)

ABC�s �In Justice� finished in a virtual tie for first place in its hour among Adults 18-49 with NBC�s �Dateline� (2.7/8 vs. 2.8/8). The new ABC drama ranked No. 1 in its time period among Adults 25-54 (3.4/9-tie) and Women 18-49 (3.6/9).

� �In Justice� was up week to week in both Total Viewers (8.9 million vs. 8.7 million) and Adults 18-49 (2.7/8 vs. 2.6/7).

�20/20� (10:00-11:00 p.m.)

ABC News� �20/20� won the 10 o�clock hour among Adults 18-49 (3.2/9) and Adults 18-34 (2.3/8).

Saturday

With a repeat of the theatrical �Enemy of the State,� ABC was the most-watched network (7.0 million � tie) on Saturday and earned a solid second place on the night among Adults 18-49 (2.3/7).

Sunday

Opposite Fox�s NFL NFC Championship coverage (Steelers-Broncos) during primetime, ABC delivered its strongest Sunday in 7 weeks among Total Viewers (17.7 million) and Adults 18-49 (7.1/16) � since 12/4/05. ABC posted a strong second-place finish to Fox on the evening in viewers and young adults, while winning the night across the Women demographics: W18-34 (8.4/22), W18-49 (9.3/20) and W25-54 (10.2/20).

� ABC aired the Top 3 TV series on Sunday night in Total Viewers and Adults 18-49, with �Desperate Housewives,� �Grey�s Anatomy� and �Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.�

�Extreme Makeover: Home Edition� (8:00-9:00 p.m.)

Also going up against the football game, ABC�s �Extreme Makeover: Home Edition� placed a competitive second in the hour among Total Viewers (16.1 million) and Adults 18-49 (6.1/13), pacing well ahead of third-place CBS (10.1 million & 2.8/6).

� Broad-appealing �Home Edition� stood as the night�s No. 1 program among Kids 2-11 (5.3/16), with its highest-rated telecast in that demo since March 2005 � since 3/6/05.

�Desperate Housewives� (9:00-10:01 p.m.)

The No. 1 TV series of the evening, ABC�s �Desperate Housewives� a solid second to Fox in the time period among Total Viewers (25.3 million) and Adults 18-49 (10.5/22), while beating football across each of the women demographics: W18-34 (12.7/29), W18-49 (14.2/28) and W25-54 (15.6/28).

� �Desperate Housewives� drew its largest audience and top Adult 18-49 rating in 7 weeks � since 12/4/05. It was the series� strongest Adult 18-34 performance (9.3/22) since November � since 11/27/05.

�Grey�s Anatomy� (10:01-11:00 p.m.)

Continuing to capitalize on its lead-in, ABC�s �Grey�s Anatomy� delivered another commanding victory during the 10 o�clock hour. In its time period, �Grey�s� beat the combined deliveries of CBS and NBC in the time period by 2.0 million viewers (21.2 million vs. 19.2 million � CBS and NBC together) and by 65% in Adults 18-49 (9.4/22 vs. 5.7/14 � CBS and NBC together).

� �Grey�s Anatomy� produced season high numbers among Total Viewers and Adults 18-49 (tie), while marking series high numbers in Adults 18-34 (9.0/23) and Men 18-34 (6.2/17).
