GHEN MAYNARD NAMED TO NEW PROGRAMMING POSITION AT CBS

Maynard To Oversee Reality And Unscripted Programming Operations For The CBS Television Network And Assume Newly Created Post Overseeing Alternative Programming For The CW And CBS Paramount Network Television, As Well As Entertainment Content For Wireless, Online And Other Emerging Platforms

Ghen Maynard, the executive who developed SURVIVOR, THE AMAZING RACE and AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL, is returning to CBS as Executive Vice President, Alternative Programming & Entertainment Content for New Media, CBS Paramount Network Television Entertainment Group.

The announcement was made today by Nancy Tellem, President of the CBS Paramount Network Television Entertainment Group.

In this multi-faceted position, Maynard will oversee alternative programming development and operations for the CBS Television Network, as well as newly created, parallel responsibilities for The CW (which CBS operates in a joint venture with Warner Bros. Entertainment) and CBS Paramount Network Television, CBS Corporation's television production studio. He will work with each of the Divisional Entertainment Presidents in these respective areas -- Nina Tassler, Dawn Ostroff and David Stapf -- to develop and produce a wide range of reality and unscripted programs.

In addition, Maynard will assume oversight of CBS's growing original programming operation for wireless and online platforms including CBS.com creating entertainment content that can be streamed on single or multiple platforms in the new media universe.

"Ghen is the ultimate entrepreneurial programmer with expertise, instincts and passion for inventing new and exciting forms of programming that engage the audience on many levels," said Tellem. "This new position speaks to his interests, his talents and the company's commitment to develop new forms of programming content that can be broadcast on network television or streamed across multiple platforms."

For the new media and television studio areas of his position, Maynard will report to Tellem, who oversees operations at CBS Entertainment and CBS Paramount Network Television.

For his alternative programming responsibilities at CBS and The CW, he will report to Tassler and Ostroff, respectively.

Maynard, who will be based at CBS's Television City in Los Angeles, will begin his new position on June 5.

Maynard rejoins CBS after two years as Executive Vice President, Primetime Development, NBC Entertainment, where he developed programs such as "My Name Is Earl" and the upcoming series "Kidnapped" and "The Black Donnellys."

From June 2002-May 2004, Maynard was Senior Vice President, Alternative Programming & Creative Strategies, CBS Entertainment, responsible for overseeing the development of all CBS alternative programming including reality series, variety, game shows, limited run series and other unique forms of programming.

Previously, Maynard had been Vice President, Alternative Programming, a newly-created position he was named to in June 2000. Maynard was responsible for bringing SURVIVOR, CBS's hit adventure-reality series, currently in its 12th edition, to the Network, working closely with executive producer Mark Burnett in overseeing the show's format and creative development.

He also developed the three-time Emmy Award winning THE AMAZING RACE, now in its ninth edition; BIG BROTHER, which returns for its seventh edition this summer; and AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL, which is currently in its sixth cycle on UPN.

Prior to that, Maynard had been Director, Drama Series Development at CBS, working on CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION and "Judging Amy," among others.

Maynard got his start in television as a post production coordinator at ABC Productions. He began his career in publishing, serving as publisher of the Let's Go travel guides while still a student at Harvard. He held subsequent positions at Houghton Mifflin Company.

Maynard earned a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from Harvard University.
