SCI FI CHANNEL FIRST AMERICA CHOOSES A CASTMEMBER ONLINE WITH NEW REALITY SERIES STARRING COMIC BOOK LEGEND STAN LEE
NEW YORK -- May 9, 2006 -- As the nationwide casting call for SCI FI Channel's new reality series 'Who Wants to Be a Superhero?' comes to a close, one contestant spot remains unfilled! For the first time ever, SCI FI Channel is letting America choose a reality show contestant: A worthy superhero in the making. Log onto SCIFI.COM (www.scifi.com/superhero) before midnight (EST) on Friday, May 12, 2006 to vote for the 11th and final contestant for 'Who Wants to Be a Superhero?,' the new SCI FI Channel original series premiering Wednesday, July 26 @ 9pm ET/PT.
SCI FI Channel is partnering with legendary comic book creator Stan Lee's ('Spider-Man,' 'Hulk,' 'The Fantastic Four,' 'X-Men') production company POW! Entertainment, Inc., and Bruce Nash's Nash Entertainment ('Meet My Folks,' 'For Love or Money,' 'Who Wants to Marry My Dad?') for a six-episode, one-hour reality series that will challenge a lucky few to create their very own superhero. The winner of this six-week competition will walk away with their superhero identity immortalized in a new comic book created by Stan Lee himself! The winning superhero will also be featured in one of SCI FI Channel's wildly popular original Saturday night action movies!
Three finalists are vying for the remaining contestant spot: lovely "Lemuria," whose super powers include draining energy from humans and levitation; the super strong "Diamond Girl," who is impervious to extreme heat and boasts a diamond force field; and the hypnotic "Artemis," who can communicate with animals and morph into a black panther. Not sure who to vote for? Log on to SCIFI.COM and watch the finalists' audition videos and listen to their all-important catchphrases! The finalist with the most votes will become a contestant on 'Who Wants to Be a Superhero?'
Remember, auditioning superheroes will need to prove their mettle revealing the true nature of their superhuman abilities and invoking the noble credos by which they live. The finalist who garners the most votes on SCIFI.COM will join the 10 other contestants as they leave their former lives behind and live as their brainchild heroes 24/7, all under Stan Lee's watchful eye. In the end, only one aspiring Superhero will have the strength and nobility to open the gates to comic book immortality.
