JAEL ELIMINATED FROM "AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL" ON THE CW

April 19, 2007 (Burbank, California) - Jael, a band manager from Detroit, Mich., was the eighth girl eliminated during the eighth cycle of The CW's hit reality series "America's Next Top Model," reducing the pool from six girls to five.

The girls were greeted at their house by Cycle 2 participant April, who gave them advice on how to be a correspondent and conduct a good interview. April's friend, actor/comedian Gary Riotto, helped demonstrate some of the pitfalls of interviewing, and then had the girls practice their new skills on one other. The following day, the girls met with April to discuss the challenge, and were shocked when Tyra burst into the room in a kangaroo suit to surprise the girls with news that they would be traveling to Australia.

Upon landing in Sydney, Australia, the girls were greeted by Australian supermodel and TV host Erika Heynatz, who immediately sent the girls to work on their first interviewing assignment. They were each given a book of Aussie slang, which they then had to incorporate into their interviews with locals on the street. Natasha was later chosen the winner, and will have the opportunity to work with the "Tyra Banks Show" in the future as a field correspondent.

The next day, Jay Manuel met the girls for a unique CoverGirl commercial where they were instructed to speak with thick Australian accents. While most of the girls had to lean on the cue cards to remember their lines, Jael had a particularly difficult time getting through her commercial shoot. "I loved Jael's energy, but I think we really struggled to get a good line read out of her," Jay said.

During the judging, the panel all agreed that Jael did not portray the CoverGirl image they were looking for during her commercial. "What you looked like to me was an anarchist making fun of being a CoverGirl," said Tyra. "How you present yourself on film is ghastly," she added before eliminating Jael from the race to become "America's Next Top Model."

In addition to a $100,000 contract with cosmetics giant CoverGirl, this year's prize package for the winner of The CW's "America's Next Top Model" will include a contract with Elite Model Management and a cover and six-page fashion spread in Seventeen magazine.

The eighth cycle of the hit reality series "America's Next Top Model" on The CW follows 13 young women as they attempt to prove they have what it takes to make it in the high-stress world of modeling. Banks, who created the show, also serves as executive producer along with Ken Mok ("Making the Band") and Anthony Dominici ("The Amazing Race").
