Thursday Night (8:00-11:00 p.m.)

For the second week in a row, ABC dominated Thursday among Adults 18-34 (4.6/13) and also ranked No. 1 across all key women demographics: W18-34 (6.7/19), W18-49 (6.8/17) and W25-54 (7.4/17-tie). Also for the second consecutive week, the Net finished in a near tie for first place with CBS in Adults 18-49, pacing within one-tenth of a rating point and tied in audience share (4.8/13 vs. 4.9/13).

"Ugly Betty" (8:00-9:00 p.m.)

From 8:00-9:00 p.m. ABC's "Ugly Betty" took second place to CBS' "Survivor: China" in Total Viewers (9.8 million) and Adults 18-49 (3.4/10-tied w/NBC), drawing 2.1 million more viewers than NBC in the hour ("My Name is Earl"/"30 Rock" = 7.7 million). "Ugly Betty" ranked a dominant No. 1 in the slot in its core audience of Women 18-34, outrunning second-place "Survivor" by 41% (4.5/14 vs. 3.2/10).

"Grey's Anatomy" (9:00-10:00 p.m.)

Thursday's No. 1 TV program in Adults 18-49 for the second week in a row, ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" widened its winning advantage over CBS' "C.S.I." to 17% (7.4/18 vs. 6.3/16), up from 7% the prior week. In addition to leading with Adults 18-49, "Grey's" also beat "C.S.I." and ranked as the No. 1 TV show on Thursday in both Adults 25-54 (8.1/18) and Adults 18-34 (7.2/19).

"Big Shots" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)

Up against veteran dramas on NBC ("ER") and CBS ("Without a Trace"), ABC's "Big Shots" won the 10 o'clock hour for the second week in a row among in Adults 18-34, holding a 20% advantage over its nearest competition (3.6/11 vs. 3.0/9 NBC). "Big Shots" also delivered the No. 1 position in the time period with Women 18-34 (5.2/15) and Women 18-49 (5.0/13).

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year to year rating comparisons: Year to year rating trends based on the Live + Same Day data stream may be somewhat distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has more than doubled from 9% at this time last year up to 20% currently. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. Therefore, the only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
