FOUR NEW HGTV SERIES SHOW HOMEOWNERS HOW TO BUY, SELL AND TURN HOUSES INTO MONEYMAKING PROPERTIES

Knoxville, Tenn. [For Immediate Release--December 2, 2008] Beginning New Year's Day, HGTV will premiere four new series that focus on ways to make the most out of the real estate market during the sluggish economy. The programs will offer expert advice for a variety of housing conundrums, including innovative ways to buy, sell and boost home equity. Viewers also will learn how to raise extra cash by creating rental spaces in their homes and get savvy suggestions from a successful Realtor who is thriving in the challenging real estate market.

In addition to the new series, viewers can visit HGTV.com/realestate to find the latest real estate advice. The site also will offer interactive content, video recaps of the series and helpful articles.

"In this difficult real estate market, we will continue to provide the best information on television about how to maintain and increase the value of your home," said Freddy James, senior vice president of program development and production, HGTV.

Beginning January 1, 2009, the following series will premiere on HGTV:

The Unsellables

Premieres Thursday, January 1, at 2 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. ET/PT

Airs Fridays at 10:30 pm ET/PT beginning January 9

Each week on The Unsellables, property guru and British TV personality Sofie Allsopp, along with contractor Anthony Sayers, will show viewers how to tackle cluttered kitchens, messy bedrooms and outdated design to create real estate gems out of homes considered "unsellable." She advises home sellers on the smartest solutions for their homes and makeovers that make sense, but also will help raise the asking price. In addition, Sofie will offer homeowners practical tips on how to increase the "wow" factor for potential buyers.

Desperate To Buy

Premieres Thursday, January 1, at 3 p.m. and 3:30 pm ET/PT

Airs Wednesdays at 10:30 pm ET/PT beginning January 7

Even in this economy, there are still reasons why people need to buy a home in a hurry. HGTV's new docu-drama follows desperate homebuyers and their real estate broker through the high-stress process of finding the perfect home fast. Beginning with narrowing down the choices to the best final three homes, viewers will follow along as the anxious homebuyers navigate their way through the tenuous real estate world. When potential homeowners are desperate to buy, tensions run high, deals can fall through, and sellers can fall apart at the last minute.

Income Property

Premieres Thursday, January 1, at 4 p.m. and 4:30 pm ET/PT

Airs Wednesdays at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT beginning January 7

In this new series, host and renovation expert Scott McGillivray will help homeowners with high mortgage payments and low cash flow create "rental suites" in their homes as a way to help cut monthly expenses. Each episode will follow the drama as homeowners transform their unused rooms, unfinished basements or garage apartments into beautiful rental spaces. These effective renovations, which incorporate clever design ideas, creative storage solutions and architectural elements such as crown molding and laminate flooring, also will add value to any home. In addition, Scott addresses safety issues, roof repairs and other challenges that will benefit the house and the homeowners in the long run.

The Property Shop

Premieres Thursday, January 1, at 10 p.m. ET/PT

Airs Thursdays at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT beginning January 8

Viewers will follow Realtor-turned-broker Tatiana Londono as she competes head-to-head with major real estate agencies to rise to the top of the real estate world. Along the way, Tatiana's gutsy style wins over clients and helps her close deals in one madcap adventure after another, all while managing an armload of junior real estate agents, a husband and two kids. Viewers will watch as Tatiana works the deals that her agency depends on to succeed. Tatiana's quest for success makes for exciting and unexpected real estate chaos that will take viewers into the life of a dynamic and driven woman who wants it all--and won't stop until she gets it.
