MTV Announces New Seasons for "The City," "Daddy's Girls," Greenlights New "Teen Cribs" Series
Plus: "Made" will have 28 new episodes added to its schedule and "The Real World: Cancun" is set to begin production.

MTV ANNOUNCES NEW SEASONS FOR "THE CITY," "DADDY'S GIRLS," GREENLIGHTS NEW "TEEN CRIBS" SERIES

Destination for "The Real World" Season 22 Unveiled: Cancun

MTV charged hard into 2009, with the debut of a number of new shows - including The City, featuring The Hills' Whitney Port, Brody Jenner's Bromance, and Daddy's Girls, starring Vanessa and Angela Simmons. Also back in action fan favorites The Real World and America's Best Dance Crew, along with the addition of a new twist to matchmaking in A Double Shot at Love � and they've connected with viewers. Led by longtime hit The Real World and fan favorite Randy Jackson Presents: America's Best Dance Crew and the network's other additions, MTV has seen its total day and 10 Spot ratings.

Based on the early success of a number of these shows, MTV has announced that New York-based The City will return for a second season, along with Daddy's Girls. After the debut of a Teen Cribs special on Saturday, January 17 (2-3PM) more than doubled the four-week time period average rating, MTV has greenlighted the show as a new series, ordering 20 episodes to air on the network. Additionally, MADE will have 28 new episodes added to its schedule.

The show renewals come on the heels of the network's announcement of a new Sunday night lineup featuring Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory, The CollegeHumor Show, Nitro Circus and How's Your News?, starting on Feburary 8. Along with those additions, MTV's original programming will continue expanding into the 9PM hour, with The Girls of Hedsor Hall premiering on Monday, February 9, and T.I.'s Road to Redemption hitting the airwaves on Tuesday, February 10.

Production Begins on "The Real World: Cancun"

Also, MTV and Bunim-Murray Productions announced today that the 22nd season of The Real World will begin production in Cancun, Mexico Q1 '09. The upcoming season of the popular reality-based series is slated for premiere later this year, this time sending eight strangers to the sandy beaches of the Caribbean Sea.

Throughout the 21 seasons of the series, The Real World has been one of the highest rated shows on MTV. The current season of The Real World premiered on January 7, 2009 to a phenomenal viewership by posting a 2.3 rating among P12-34 and ranked #1 for the day against all cable competition.

The Real World launched the modern reality television genre and is the longest-running reality series in history. Past seasons have taken place in New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, London, Miami, Boston, Seattle, Hawaii, New Orleans, Chicago, Las Vegas, Paris, San Diego, Philadelphia, Austin, Key West, Denver, Sydney, Hollywood, and Brooklyn. The first season, set in New York City, debuted in 1992. Each season, the show brings seven, and now eight, young strangers to live together in a new city and rolls the cameras 24-7, witnessing as their lives intersect, their ideas are challenged and their passions emerge.

The Real World was created for MTV by Jon Murray and Mary-Ellis Bunim of Bunim-Murray Productions. Jon Murray and Jim Johnston serve as Executive Producers of "The Real World: Cancun." Jacquelyn French is the MTV executive overseeing the project.

Week of January 12 sets marks

Driven by strong premieres and repeat performances for all of these shows, MTV saw its P12-34 rating for the week starting January 12, 2009, jump 11% versus the prior week and 19% from the Q4/2008 full-week average. This gave MTV its best weekly ratings since the week starting September 1, 2008, which closed with the 2008 Video Music Awards special on September 7. The Real World was the #1 cable telecast on January 14 among P12-34 for the second straight week, and was second only to American Idol across all television shows. The return of America's Best Dance Crew (1/15/2009) gave MTV its best Thursday ratings since August 2008 as the season 3 premiere of ABDC delivered a 1.98 P12-34 rating, improving the prior four week time period average by 133%.

MTV had 4 of the top 10 cable telecasts for that week among W12-34, too: The Real World, The City, America's Best Dance Crew and Daddy's Girls. Additionally, the Cribs block on 1/17/09 raised Saturday's 12PM-2PM timeslot rating by 36% over the prior four weeks. That same afternoon, MTV Cribs Celeb at 3PM delivered a 0.93 P12-34, improving the time period average by 90%.
