DOMINIC MONAGHAN JOINS THE CAST OF "FLASHFORWARD"

Dominic Monaghan ("Lost") is joining the cast of ABC's exciting new fall drama, "FlashForward," which premieres on THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 24 (8:00-9:00pm, ET) on the ABC Television Network.

What would you do if you were given a glimpse of the future? Would you accept what you saw and live life to its fullest, or would you do everything in your power to change your destiny? In "FlashForward," when the world's population is given a glimpse of their future, it forces everyone to come to grips with whether their destinies can be fulfilled or avoided.

Aside from "Lost," Monaghan is also known for his portrayal of Hobbit Meriadoc "Merry" Brandybuck in the "Lord of the Rings" Trilogy. He recently appeared in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" and guest starred on "Chuck."

Before his worldwide success, he was known in England for his role in the British television drama, "Hetty Wainthropp Investigations." Monaghan's additional film credits include "Spivs," "The Purifiers," the dark psychological drama "Shooting Livien," and as narrator of the feature film "RINGERS: Lord of the Fans," a documentary that charts the ongoing influence of J.R.R. Tolkien's literary masterpieces. His upcoming feature film projects include MGM's "Pet" and "I Sell the Dead," which was featured at Slamdance this year.

Monaghan was born in Berlin and grew up in Manchester, England. He is an active environmentalist and enjoys the outdoors, wild animals, surfing and football (soccer in the U.S.), particularly Manchester United. In 2008 he combined two of his life's passions - photography and nature - and held his first exhibit, entitled "Happy Accidents."

"FlashForward" stars Joseph Fiennes as Mark Benford, John Cho as Demetri Noh, Jack Davenport as Lloyd Simcoe, Courtney B. Vance as Stan Wedeck, Sonya Walger as Olivia Benford, Bran F. O'Byrne as Aaron Stark, Christine Woods as Janis Hawk, Zachary Knighton as Bryce Varley and Peyton List as Nicole.

The series executive producers are David S. Goyer (co-writer of "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight"), Brannon Braga ("24," "Star Trek"), Marc Guggenheim ("Brothers & Sisters," "Eli Stone") and Jessika Borsiczky Goyer ("Revelations"). "FlashForward," which premieres on September 24, 2009, is from ABC Studios.
