LABOR DAY MARATHON OF DISCOVERY CHANNEL'S DIRTY JOBS PAYS TRIBUTE TO DIRTY WORK

On Monday, September 7, Discovery Channel will celebrate hard work with an all-day marathon of the Emmy-nominated series, DIRTY JOBS.

From construction to sanitation to manufacturing, host, creator and good-natured guinea pig Mike Rowe tries his hand at jobs in various industries around the country, showcasing some of the most hard-working and skilled men and women around. The marathon will include some of viewers' favorite episodes from the series' past seasons and will air from 9AM ET/PT until 3AM ET/PT.

The men and women who do the dirty jobs featured on the show are also the impetus for Mike's newest initiative, MikeRoweWorks.com, which celebrates the importance of skilled labor and trade work in America.

Mike Rowe will return to Discovery Channel Tuesdays at 9PM ET/PT beginning October 6 for all-new episodes of DIRTY JOBS.

Mike Rowe Gets Dirty with Mattresses, Maple Syrup and Fireworks When All-New Episodes of Discovery Channel's DIRTY JOBS Premiere October 6

(Silver Spring, Md.) - The world's most sought-after guinea pig for all things dirty, grimy and messy returns to Discovery Channel Tuesdays at 9PM ET/PT beginning October 6th, for 11 all-new episodes of the Emmy-nominated series DIRTY JOBS. In the continuation of season five, host and creator Mike Rowe travels the country to showcase the downright dirty jobs that most people would go out of their way to avoid. From toilet crushers to maple syrup processers to camel ranchers, Mike serves as apprentice to the hard-working and skilled men and women who make civilized life possible for the rest of us each and every day.

Since the series first debuted in 2005, DIRTY JOBS has provided an in-depth, behind-the-scenes look at more than 200 dirty jobs (and counting!) - in industries ranging from construction to sanitation to manufacturing. In the October 6th premiere episode, Mike will head to Miami, FL to try out marine salvaging, where he'll work to remove submerged, abandoned boats from the water. He'll then go to a recycling center in San Francisco to separate the metal, fabric, padding and wood parts of a mattress so each can be made into a new product.

In other premiere episodes this fall, Mike will try his hand at hydrodam mechanics, cedar log peeling, glass making, dung beetle researching and fireworks manufacturing, among various others, adding even more diversity to his extensive resume.

DIRTY JOBS, which was nominated for its second consecutive Emmy this year for Outstanding Reality Program, has become one of Discovery Channel's highest-rated shows. The men and women featured on the show have been the impetus for Mike's newest initiative, MikeRoweWorks.com, which celebrates the importance of skilled labor and trade work in America. Mike is also working on various other projects with Discovery Channel.

DIRTY JOBS is produced by Pilgrim Film & Television; Craig Piligian is the executive producer. For the Discovery Channel, Tim Pastore is the executive producer.
